Nigel
Seen cheap flights for Bologna so booked them. Away for 3 nights It's only 35 mins by rail to Florence. Should I stay in Bologna or travel to florence or worth staying in both in that short time?

Janne Lindberg's Laces
Never been to Florence but Bologna is brilliant for a few days. 3 days will be loads as it's a pretty small city centre but you should get a good feeling for the place in that time.
sjc
Florence is absolutely beautiful. I'd like to visit Bologna though. Verona is worth a visit........ especially in opera season (summer time). Witnessing Carmen in a 2000 year old apetheatre is quite something!
MP_MFC
Florence is amazing, we were over last summer for a few days, based ourselves in Verona and as the above said did the opera, amazing and I'm in no way an opera fan, but Carmen outside by candlelight was unreal. Florence was only an hour and a half away and Bologna about half way so we chose Florence as the train times worked out better. Stunning views over the city and all the architecture was amazing as well as the tuscan food and wine. Would go back to either Verona or Florence again in a heartbeat.
