I'm just guessing here, but is Jeremiah doing his normal "post a link to some conspiracy bs without making any comment"?

Aye.

I read stuff from dodgy places. A lot of it is shite

your source of truth is Donald Trump and Boris Johnson. You believe what they tell you and follow their orders.

Nowt wrong with the 1st part, left wingers should make an effort to read a lot of right wing stuff and vice versa.

I’m wondering how it is that some people seem to be more badly affected by the virus than others. Young fit and healthy folk dying and duffers like Boris and Prince Charles just having mild cases

Are there two different strains going about? I remember reading somewhere there was an “S” strain and a “L” strain. That was probably a load of shite, though

There's no evidence that young, fit and healthy people are dying. Some people have underlying issues without ever knowing.

You will need to wait for autopsies.

35 deaths per million of population versus 60 deaths per million in the UK

(Deaths being people who have died with coronavirus. No stats have been published of those who have died of it and probably never will - we’ll need to approximate with the excess mortality statistics)

Swedes are probably healthier overall. Obesity and smoking seem to make people more likely to die because of Covid.

We'll have capacity and knowledge to withstand a bigger wave next time around, so long as we've timed our lockdown properly in the 1st place.

I don't think I'll be doing a 2nd proper in your house 24/7 lockdown, that'll be dependent on whether this just remains numbers or turns into a hide behind the couch watching news exercise, here's hoping.

We haven't had a first 'in your house 24/7 lockdown'.

One to one intense, private health care rather than being tipped in to a hospital with an oxygen tent that came out the ark.

Why do to think Prince Philip is alive?

It’s amusing when someone pretends to have you on ignore, then goes to the lengths of specifically replying about you to you about you to some else

I’m embarrassed for him. What a sad loser.

Most very old people survive it too, it's just that the ones who do die are usually old.

Can you tell me the actual numbers?

”far higher rate” and “ not even close” isn’t very convincing

204 deaths, over 2600 confirmed cases, I hope to f**k their approach is correct and ours isn't, not convinced but they do have 1200 bed hospital ready for popn of 1000000.

This is only the 1st battle right enough, they might not have a worse death total than the rest when we look back in a few years.

Hi Wattoo I'm not getting at you here but the bit in bold irks me a bit, for some staff yes it will be quiet, it depends on where you work of course.  I've seen this from a few staff who work in areas where demand is no longer an issue.

The wards are quiet as nobody is being routinely operated on and admissions for general ailments are being kept to a minimum as we try to keep patients away from hospital . Critical care on the other hand is absolutely mental with extra care areas being set up.   It must be remembered that a different, higher set of skills are required for the kind of care currently being provided in both critical care areas and Gp land, and if you normally work in say a care of the elderly ward then you won't necessarily have the skill fit to work in these areas.

I know how busy critical care is just now with sadly a large number of younger patients in situ, plenty of whom have no pre-existing health conditions which is worrying.  The staff are working their arses off.

Primary care i.e Gp surgeries are also rammed with Gp's and ANP's being moved to Covid assessment centres plus trying to deal with normal patient workload while dealing with increased demands due to peoples anxiety levels going through the roof during this.  All the while this is with reduced staff due to sickness etc.

Staff are being moved from places like outpatients as their areas close to help out as best they can in other parts of the service.

So for some people, yes, some areas of the hospital are quiet but cognisance of the service as a whole should be taken into account by these people when they're informing everyone how quiet they are, lucky them.   Most of the staff I know from different areas of the health service are fucking knackered.  So yes t might be quiet for some but the storm has already hit some parts of the service.  I dread to think what it will look like in a months time.

It's time for a Tennent's for me.

No, that's fair enough and I don't doubt what you're saying is 100% correct. I should add that I was in no way (and neither was the Nurse) attempting to insinuate that this was some sort of hoax.

The point I was more getting across is while Ayr hospital and possibly many others in the country might not look busy right now, there's every chance they'll be completely swamped within a matter of days.

I also appreciate that there are other parts of the NHS which are at this very moment "swamped" and I'd also think we have "clusters" throughout the country where some areas will be on a different curve and possibly busier than others at the moment.

I DO totally get your frustration though.

Sounds about right for Ayr Hospital tbh. When my Dad was in there was quite a few bitches. The morning we were told he wasn’t going to live much longer one berated my mum and I for not having the flu jab, my Mum said we didn’t fall into the category of needing it and she snapped “you can pay to get it done, it doesn’t cost much”. Fucking heartless cow

That's shocking, and really the last thing you should have been hearing from them, as you say, total bitch.

I hope to fcuk that our approach is correct and we haven’t destroyed the world economy, forcing hundreds of millions of people into poverty for years to come with the resultant mortality that comes with that.
