I'm listening to this podcast from April in the gym right now and the guest expert/activist on Haiti actually says she has sources on the ground in Haiti telling her Moises won't last the year as he has become a liability to the US.

I don’t think any Western news agencies or papers have correspondents in Haiti, there are very few NGOs and little free media. Essentially means none of the reports in Western media mean much, even people getting information from those on the ground are getting it from sources that might be compromised.

I mean, from the linear reporting on this, the story is - a load of Colombian ex-Special ops and a couple of Haitian Americans strolled into the heavily guarded Presidential residence, met no resistance, shot the President dead and then sat around waiting to be caught. This has all been done at the behest of a Haitian American doctor whose political involvement is that ten years ago he put some YouTube videos up about how Haiti needed a better government.

You don’t need to be Alex Jones to think there is much more to this.

South Africa continues to experience very large scale civil conflict following the imprisonment of ex President Jacob Zuma. 25,000troops have now been deployed. Private citizens have been arming themselves with guns and machetes against the rioters.

Significant impact also being seen to the economy, already ravaged by Covid.

Vice film about Haiti - some absolutely horrific details about the kidnapping gangs in the last few minutes of the video, it's a difficult watch.

The long standing Serbia/Croatia feud has reached a new level of pettiness.

The BBC article doesn't provide all the back story. During WWII the pro-Axis Croatian nationalist Ustase regime ran a concentration camp for ethnic Serbs from the surrounding area in Tesla's native village and destroyed the house he was born in so there are reasons this sort of stuff can open up very raw emotions for some people.

When I was in holiday in Croatia a few years ago there was what I presume was a memorial to WW2 just up the hill from our villa.  It was completely rundown and had been vandalised with 'U' graffiti, which I understand is the symbol for the Ustase.

There has been the heaviest fighting between Armenia and Azerbijan since the end of the second Karabakh War.  Azerbijan has attacked Armenian positions in several border provinces, with a number of soldiers on both sides killed.  It seems that there is pressure being put on the Armenian side as leaders of both countries are meeting Putin to push forward with a final peace agreement.

Wildfires in Turkey - no surprise that the Turkish government and it's proxies are pumping out shite blaming the PKK. The same identical posts are all over Social Media

As usual the Turkish government looking for a scapegoat for their own failures.

Just seen it’s mainly tourist areas in the south, icmeler and Marmaris getting it bad. Few accusations of people deliberately fire raising as well.

The arson accusations are clearly coming from the Turkish government - identical posts and pictures doing the rounds - it really does smack of propaganda.
