The Minertaur
Inspired by Pablo Fornals in the match between Newcastle and West Ham yesterday can I see your best examples of players claiming for offside despite being the one to play them onside? Goal at 1:56 but best angle at 2:15. Any other examples? Edited July 6, 2020 by The Minertaur
The Minertaur
Well this thread took off Last night saw a late Spain equaliser against Germany. Kudos to the guy off the pitch claiming for offside.
KingRocketman II
I thought if you weren't on the field then you were not part of play?

Ira Gaines
Wasn't there a similar case at a major international tournament? Pretty sure it involved the Netherlands.
craigkillie
I thought if you weren't on the field then you were not part of play?Players who are off the pitch without the referee's permission are considered active for the purposes of offside. If they step off the pitch deliberately it's also a yellow card, whereas there is no punishment if their momentum carried them off.

I've seen plenty of examples - it's got to the point where if someone is putting their hand up for offside then there's a good chance they're actually playing them on! Here's one from the weekend - can't find it on a highlights video but I've linked to the timecode. West Ham captain already on a yellow card, claims for offside and lets the scorer go, then gets her second yellow for dissent. Looks like her foot could well be keeping the player onside.
