Bairns v the Grandweans of Section B

Recommended Posts

Kyle Connell was brilliant today got right stuck in about our defence and also was in the right position to finish the goal off. We didn't deserve to lose the game but we were so average that we only have ourselves to blame. Macdonald had Morrison in his back pocket when he came on.

Worst performance of the season so far. Leaving your better players on the bench isn't a great idea.
Francis is as bad as any striker we've had in the last 10 years btw.

Dowds is no better, at least Francis is mobile.

Leaving Morrison and Alston on the bench would have given them a big lift before a ball is kicked.

It is a squad game when the replacements are good enough.

Only two positives. Partick lost and hopefully it will be the last we see of Leitch

Got exactly what we deserved. Let's face it though, it was hardly a surprise!

Defence, Gomis and Connolly were fine, the rest, including the subs, were completely pish! Having said that, we were in control and played not too badly for the first 20 minutes or so. We'll need to do that for 90 next week while taking our chances too.

Agreed re Leitch he is nowhere near good enough to be a starter for Falkirk.

The midfield needs to be Morrison, Alston, Gomis and one of Connolly/Telfer.

There's not one striker in that side you'd bet a quid on taking a decent chance though.  Last year we had McManus at least but just now without Keena we're needing to create about 15 chances to have the chance of scoring one.

2 points out of 12 against Airdrie in League 1 is an acceptable return?

You can spin it that way and be very negative if you want or on the flip side I could say first loss in 9 games and 20 points from our first 9 games, as mentioned repeat that another two times and that will most likely win you the league.

Connolly was one of our better players today. It's one of either Alston or telfer for me.

A fair point tbh. Probably just a bit pissed off as I could see it coming! Imperative we get a positive result next week.

Problem is we've learned feck all from last season. It's still the same old story in games like this.  If we had a decent forward we would probably have scored in the first 20 mins and that would've changed the game but our top scoring striker has two fecking goals which is nowhere near good enough.  Should be an easy game plan for Partick next week. Just park the bus and we'll give you 3 points.

Footballs a strange game. Against Clyde we had 4 efforts on target from 6 and scored 3, against Peterhead we had 13 on target from 20 and scored 2.

I'm not sure they were really chances. One was a great strike from telfer the other two were dreadfully defended set pieces. None of them were scored by our strikers. It worries me that we are now going to waste this good start.  When teams come for a point it's imperative you score first and early.  Otherwise the longer it goes the more confidence the opposition has and we're always lible to lose a goal.
