MDM
This thread might be worth creating now that the VoL manager has resigned. Vale of Leithen FC @ValeLeithen MANAGER DEPARTURE After six years at the club, manager Chris Anderson has stepped down. We would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him well for the future. All chat, insight etc. I understand he couldn't get players in. The ones he did get it weren't considered good enough. Then players left, wanted to leave or refused to play. Crazy money being spent which concerned some of the committee. And he kept playing himself which didn't go down well. Did he fall, or was he pushed?
ski64
Always a shame when a manager has to move on after several years regardless of the reasons. Can't help thinking there will be others moving on too as there are real challenges coming from below and teams will be desperate to avoid relegation plus those with promotional ambition keen to get up before the league gets stronger.
LongTimeLurker
Crazy money bit is the interesting snippet. If true, the committee would definitely have a right to question whether it had been spent wisely.
ski64
In comparison to other LL teams would they have a budget that should enable them to be further up the league? AlansHotBath
'Crazy money' is presumably relative - I would have assumed that VoL had the lowest, or near enough lowest budget in the league - combined with geographical difficulties in getting players made it nearly impossible for them to compete the last few seasons, but were still overspending based on the results and performances.

Spot on with this. Crazy money vs lower end EOS team perhaps but not in LL terms.
RossBFaeDundee
The driver has jumped out of the train, but it was already hurtling down a hill anyway. Any new hiree will just be the equivalent of shoving a passenger in the cab of the same hurtling train.

LongTimeLurker
They only need to be better than Edinburgh Uni over 34 games if an HL club isn't promoted with an LL catchment Club 42 club relegated, so it isn't mission impossible for them. The problem they have is that this looks like a season where the top of the HL could be significantly stronger than the top of the LL. Have a sneaking suspicion that Club 42 is going to be Edinburgh City on the back of a squad revamp and stadium move gone wrong. Time will tell obviously. MDM
New manager appointed? Don't see anything on the club's web page or Twitter feed. Edited...... Edited August 13, 2021 by MDM
Crow
How on earth does a Lowland League club in 2021 appoint a new manager and not publicise it !?

MDM
Another heavy defeat for Vale last night - 7-1 loss to East Kilbride. Their Twitter account was fairly active until the manager and his brother departed, so it suggests one of them was responsible for the feed...perhaps they're refusing to share the account details and password?
fanfromafar
A real shame to see what was such a great club struggling. I think it is going to be an extremely long season ahead for the vale.

Them and a few others are out of their depth in the Lowland league and until they change the one relegation spot these results will continue making level 5 of Scottish football a laughing stock
Deanburn Dave
Too much "self preservation" in the LL. Give it another couple of seasons and the ex juniors coming into the LL will have the numbers to get the rule change to 2 relegated each season. Sooner the better in my opinion.

When VOL get relegated, I suspect they’ll have another relegation next season. Hopefully some pressure is exerted to get at least two relegation places from lowland league from next season.

Andy groundhopper
I know it's hard to watch a club struggle, if they've spent silly money on average players - that's stupid, but they're not the first. Clubs in the West will find their place eventually, able to compete on a level that suits. Good luck to the club and it's fans, hopefully you'll see the season through.
