What’s this I’m hearing about the referee at Innerleithen giving throw ins that the lino wasn’t, and restarting the game before a sub came on? A name in Dumfries that makes me think it’s wholly true 😂😂😂😂😂

Stilring University v Cumbernauld Colts, NW Group, Sunday 20th March 3pm

is showing on the LFL site's fixture list as being at Falkirk Stadium rather than at usual home Stilring Albion's Forthbank

Probably because Stirling Albion have two home games on the Saturday and Tuesday.

How are most teams finding this cup?

Are teams using this as a chance to give some fringe players a chance while coming up to a busy schedule of games?

Looking at Shire's team I think any rotations were down to fitness than not taking it as seriously. Bo'ness just seem gubbed by injuries atm, hence the smaller squad in their game.

Every manager and team will have their own motivations, but I can't really see why teams wouldn't prioritise the Cup ahead of the league? There's not much to play for in the league with 1st and relegation sorted.

With a few exceptions, most clubs haven't a busy schedule of games - that's why sections were deployed.

Except in south-west pool all the remaining ties are on weekends, with no clubs having league games in adjacent midweeks; so if players are being rested it's by choice, not any need to rotate.

e.g. Berwick only 3 league games left... all in April... can't climb more than 1 place in league... target should absolutely be 4pts from pool games next 2 weekends - then go for glory next month.

City Cup aside: we haven't won a cup in my lifetime!

Except it isn't !

Stirling University and Cumbernauld Colts both declare that it is (and always was) at the usual Forthbank.

The SFA Referee Appointments page has left the venue blank.

The LFL's site continues to spread fake news, still saying Falkirk Stadium, both in their tabulated fixture list and in their match-specific graphic. Hmmm...

Am I right in thinking that if Berwick beat gala by 2 or more goals then vale are in the quarter finals? I am a loyal ‘dream team’ supporter for a day if so

You're correct... if Berwick beat Gala by 2+ goals then goalless Vale of Leithen qualify for knockouts on GD... which in its own way could almost be fitting, taking as it would Vale of Leithen: the Banter Years to a crescendo-like finale for critics and lovers alike.

Incidentally: keep every appendage crossed it doesn't finish Berwick 1-0 Gala 😐...

East Stirlingshire 0-0 Broomhill

Spartans 1-1 Civil Service Strollers

Vale of Leithen 0-1 Berwick Rangers

  Berwick Rangers        qualify

Mighty Berwick Rangers first guests at the knockout party - with 1 game to spare no less. Avoiding defeat v Gala will be enough to top section.

Caledonian Braves 2-0 Dalbeattie Star
East Kilbride 6-0 Gretna 2008

  Caledonian Braves        qualify
  East Kilbride        qualify
  Dalbeattie Star        are eliminated
  Gretna 2008        are eliminated

image.png.13fb3caab0cb1eda2813cd46bbeaf1a6.png

EK will top section unless lose by 3+ goals at Dalbeattie on Wednesday 13th April (losing 2-0 would see them finish top on 'Head-to-Head').

Cumbernauld Colts 2-2 East Stirlingshire

  East Stirlingshire        qualify
  Cumbernauld Colts        are eliminated

image.png.e0155fccbeeff74bd176052012c4490c.png

Broomhill must win at Uni of Stirling tomorrow or else hosts go through... a 1-0 win for visitors would mean a dead-heat with 'Shire for who tops section and who are runners-up.

Edinburgh University 2-1 Civil Service Strollers
Spartans 1-3 Bo'ness United

  Bo'ness United        qualify
  Edinburgh University        qualify
  Civil Service Strollers        are eliminated
  Spartans        are eliminated

Few would have predicted these 2 progressing.

Berwick Rangers 1-0 Gala Fairydean Rovers

image.png.1269596674c75b2590d8745d74731bcc.png

Dead-heat means in accordance with LL Cup Rule 3's concluding clauses Gala and Vale will now have to playoff at a neutral venue for a place in QFs.

Gentlemen we have reached Peak Vale 😆...
