LongTimeLurker
A gas pipeline from Russia to India would be tricky to do given the geography (Himalayas) and geopolitics (Afghanistan and Pakistan otherwise) involved. With China the big question mark would be how quickly green hydrogen takes off over the next decade to store energy from renewables and balance production with demand. Once that's fully up and running, and it's on the brink of starting to ramp up, you no longer need natural gas to back up wind turbines and solar panels.

LongTimeLurker
Russians take out a dam with cruise missles to disrupt the water supply in Zelensky's hometown and wash away some pontoon bridges used by the Ukrainians further south. Vlad is clearly not taking the setback in Kharkiv oblast well.

dorlomin
So either 5000 recruits brought up to basic infantry standard or 5000 reservists retrained to operate as a modern mech brigade. You'd really want to wish the later, especially with that much time to specialise in night fighting.

LongTimeLurker
There was plenty of skepticism about this claim of a Ukrainian advance near Kherson yesterday: But maybe it happened after all?

welshbairn
Tass reporting it too, usually they'd claim it was just a fire or accident. Could be they're going to use it as an excuse to escalate bombing of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, like the TV pundits have been urging. https://tass.com/emergencies/1508287

Sadly unsurprising after the horrors uncovered in Bucha and elsewhere. It's likely that a lot of war crimes are going to be uncovered as territories are liberated. I'm sure one of the usual 4 or 5 contrarian halfwits will be along to tell us it's all false flag, or done by Ukrainian Nazis and proof that Ukraine should negotiate peace to avoid escalation. If any of them ever show their faces in this thread again. I'm sure that as soon as the current offensive slows to resupply they'll crawl back.

ICTChris
There’s a brilliant quote from the owner of Wagner, Prigozhin. The oligarch was filmed pitching to convicts in a penal colony earlier this week. A Russian paper asked him for quote on it and he said “Either the PMCs and cons will fight, or your kids will. You decide.” Prigozhin himself did nearly ten years in a Soviet prison for robbery and pimping charges.
