The Zolfaghar is a true ballistic version of the Fateh-100, about 700km range. Both are evaluated as poor performers by interested parties, with reliability and accuracy concerns. Both are also assessed to use commercial GNSS signals for targeting and guidance, so will be heavily degraded in the Ukrainian environment. So Israel refused to transfer any missiles to Ukraine…Israel is also requesting more funding, from the U.S. for laser missile defence, hum… Also, Israeli intelligence has reported Iran using Syrian facilities to produce some missiles…and Israel just struck some Syrian targets of an unknown nature, hum… Wouldn't be very surprised if the Iranian factories do indeed start having some issues, courtesy of Mossad, and the U.S. passes some funding for Israeli anti-missile research. Can't remember if it was the Israelis or Americans, but the bug they planted in the control systems for Iranian uranium purification centrifuges was pretty cool, programmed them to exceed their maximum speed limit momentarily every night, which meant they fell apart after a couple of months..

Stuxnet, jointly developed by the U.S. and Israel. Targeted particular devices that met a whole host of stipulations, than resulted in a worm that very narrowly targeted the Siemens controllers the Iranian centrifuges used. It was a work of genius, and very effective…but it showed people what could be done.

Sherrif John Bunnell
Muslim soldiers seem like the only semi-competent part of the Russian army, so the higher-ups should maybe not be slating Allah to their faces.
LongTimeLurker
...especially if they are holding loaded machine guns at the time. That's Darwin Award territory. Son of a top general did it apparently.
ICTChris
Wait, the guy who was shot was the son of General Latin? That’s the commander of Army Group Centre. Bloody hell. Dozens of Shahed drones attack Kyiv this morning, some have been shot down, some have made it through. Kyiv railway station has been hit, apparently.

jagfox
At least some being sent from Belarus. Supposedly part of the reasoning about the attack on Belodograd.
LongTimeLurker
Belgorod is a long way from Belarus close to Kharkiv so not sure that fits but maybe they fly through Russian airspace into Belarus and the Ukraine. I read somewhere last night that the reason they targeted Belgorod was an air defence system that had shot down two Ukrainian planes in recent days.

welshbairn
Russia's sending 9000 troops to "help protect Belarus borders against Ukraine and NATO". Being unhappy is one thing, doing something about it and putting you and your families necks on the line is quite another thing entirely. from a Washington Post article in Aug: Quote In a statement, the State Department said the targeted officials “have been implicated in torture; violent arrests of peaceful protesters; raids of homes and offices of journalists, members of the opposition, and activists; coerced confessions; electoral fraud; politically motivated sentences of political prisoners; expulsion of students for participation in peaceful protests; passage of legislation impacting the enjoyment of fundamental freedoms; and acts of transnational repression.” In a symbolic move, Lukashenko’s rival in the 2020 elections Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, who lives in exile in Lithuania, announced a transitional cabinet. But while Tikhanovskaya is regularly welcomed in Western capitals, and met President Biden at the White House last year, Lukashenko faces no internal threat to his power. Instead, Lukashenko’s thuggish enforcers at GUBOPiK have a green light to rough up activists and target their families. They post spoof videos mimicking a popular Russian before-and-after apartment renovation show — but instead the homes are destroyed. Wielding crowbars, they break up the apartments of parents of exiled Belarusian activists, the camera panning slowly across the view, “after the search,” showing floors pulled up, broken furniture, mirrors and fittings smashed, shards of glass and tangled clothes. GUBOPiK did not respond to requests for comment about the confession videos. Source
