Oi, what happened to the Carlisle thread?

Think their goalie should have done better with Mellish's first volley, but his second was right in the bottom corner

His performances are either shite or brilliant, not much in-between (google "jon mellish own goal" for a wide array of examples, but he was our top scorer one season)

Lost 3-1 at home to Lincoln

5 games left, can only get to 42 points, so we just need one of the four teams above us to reach 43 and then we're down regardless of what we do

Given Burton are on 40 in the last safe place we're down if we lose on Saturday, or they win on saturday, or we both draw

And even that's just putting it off till the week after really with the other teams in the relegation places not far behind Burton, but I expect to be relegated in 5 days 😞

That's been on the cards since Christmas, unfortunately.

Yes not quite mathematically down but only a matter of time.
Again sounds like Carlisle made a game of it today but another in a long line of defeats sadly.

Certainly did. Got one goal and came close a couple of times. It looked more like it was going to be 2-2 than 1-3, but as I've said so many times this season, a lot of these players just aren't good enough. Ellis and Armer at full back are sadly out of their depth, Barclay and Lavelle at centre back are liable for a mistake at any time. Mellish, now playing in midfield, was back to his careless headless chicken mode rather than the chaotic wrecking ball he must've been at Peterborough.

There continues to be criticism of Paul Simpson, but it's not the manager's fault when players run in to each other, or kick the ball against each other, take a 5 yard first touch and lose the ball, continuously pass to the ball boys, or needlessly push a guy in the back to give away a freekick at the edge of the box.

On the plus side, Butterworth was lively again and the new striker Georgie Kelly looked good when he came on. If only he was fit when he signed. A bit of a clear out in the summer and some smart signings, and we can hopefully actually look forward to a good season at the top end of League 2.

Here's hoping!

Zombie Carlisle United carry on with a 1-0 win at Cheltenham - now on 30 points

Think our lowest total in 3pts for a win era is 34 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carlisle_United_F.C._seasons - though that was a 42 game season

Always good to get a win. There's been no sign of the players downing tools and though the quality isn't there the effort still seems to be.

Carlisle 0-1 Blackpool

Went behind in the first minute and sacked it off after that

The most noteworthy event according to commentary was a massive hailstorm at the end that soaked everyone not under cover

Will give a real live report myself from the Wycombe match next week, last home match in league one - woo

Carlisle 1-3 Wycombe

Usual.

Couple of clangers to give the game away. Apparently the second one was really bad but from the halfway line it looked like a scramble after a clearance banged off a Wycombe player straight back into the goalmouth

Our goal looked good and their third carved us open well

Didn't hang around for the end of season standing ovations, the players can applaud me next season

1 more goal conceded needed to reach 80, 1 more defeat next week to get to 30
