QUEEN OF THE SOUTH TRUST STALL - LOREBURN CENTRE

DUE to the prevailing weather conditions the Trust Stall operated today from 10;30am to 13;30pm. Reasons to hopefully forestall criticism

1 One volunteer unable to get in due to the

snow.

2 One volunteer had to leave early to

ensure they got home safely.

3 Final volunteer started packing up stall

around 13;30pm as there was little

interest being shown from the few people

in the shopping centre.

Record Watch Update

Today's 2-1 win at Alloa sees us tie the existing club record for wins in a season at 24. With seven games left we'll surely go on to beat that. The win moves us 2 points nearer to the 'true' most points in a season record. We're now only two wins short of a record in that also. The present unbeaten run is extended to 15 games. If we avoid defeat at Brechin on Wednesday we'll tie the club record for consecutive league games unbeaten. Two goals scored moves us to 74 but the target of 99 in 36 games is looking less likely now and would need an average of almost four a game from here in which seems very unlikely. For the second week running we conceded a goal and are now on 18 league goals conceded. We can still afford to concede 12 in 7 games and set a new record there though. Goal difference is up to +56, 11 better than our existing record. We can afford to lose three of our last seven and still set a record for least defeats also.

Club Records Already Set:

All time record points total for a season was 67 achieved in the 2001-02 championship season. We are now on 76 points with seven games to go!

Latest First League Defeat in a season. We didn't lose our first league game until December 11th. The previous record was November 9th.

(Tied Record) Most Games Unbeaten from the Start of the Season. We were beaten in our 14th League game which matches the 13 game unbeaten start to 1985/86.

(Tied Record) Most wins in a season - 24 in 1961/62. Present total is 24.

Several others remain 'on the radar':

Most points in a season using 2 points for a win - 55 in 85/86 (which was a 39 game season). Our present record equates to 52.

Least goals conceded in a league season - 31 in 1923/24 but that was a 30 game season. 33 in a 38 game season in 74/75 is probably better. Our present total is 18.

Most goals scored in a season - 99 in 1931/32. Best post war is 94 in 1959/60. Present total is 74.

Best goal difference in a season - +45 in 1961/62. Present GD is +56.

Least defeats in a season - 5 in 1932/33. Best post war is 6 in 1950/51. Present total is 1.

Record Unbeaten Run in a Season - 16 games in 1950/51. Present record is 15 games.

Record Unbeaten League Run Total - 20 games including the 16 above and adding 4 more to start 1951/52. As above present record is 15 with 7 games left.

Record Unbeaten Run at Home (League Only) - 18 games. Present record is 15 with three games left this season.

Earliest Date for Clinching a League Title - 20th April 2002 (It was 28th April 1951). We have the opportunity to win it in March this time.

Happy to hear of any corrections in the above existing records? I might have missed something or there may be errors in the source data somewhere.

What an amazing season, I could only imagine what it has been like for all you lads over there. Hopefully we can wrap up the league this Wednesday (6:45am Thursday morning my time :)) against Brechin, which will be another tough fixture.

In regards to the Ramsden Cup Final, does anyone know where I could watch it via online stream?

Just want to start a little debate as to what everyone thinks our crowd would be if we were to wrap the title up in midweek ?? I would say it shouldn't be hard to get 2,500. That said this season the Dumfries public have let the bod down big time. They have put a record breaking team on the pitch and still very little interest.

How did you get on last season?

 first rule of the wind up - support a team less shite than the team you are attempting to wind up. Can I suggest you try again but this time maybe have a go with East Stirlingshire, Berwick or The Rangers.

I thought the first rule of wind up was to never talk about wind up...

One of the constant criticisms levelled against QoS (mainly from opposing fans) is that "aye but youse are full-time so of course you were always gonna piss it against part-time teams".

Question, have any other full-time teams competed in Div2 recently and how did they get on?

MMM Think there was a full time club down Greenock way that took a few seasons to get out the seaside leagues!

Don't know about the 2nd but there is a full time team in the 3rd. They look as though they might go on and win it but are struggling at the moment with the winning line in sight!
