CoveRangers1922
Humbling defeat today. Caley deserved the win no qualms about it. 2-0 down at half time, even with a 5-4-1 we didn't look capable of defending and with Mitch isolated for large parts we didn't look like scoring either. Couldn't see a way back into the game but a goal within a minute of the restart gave some resurgence and we looked like we might perhaps get back on level terms in the 15-20 minute spell thereafter when we were on top but didn't. The 3rd Caley goal sealed the fate and the 4th on the final whistle left us licking our wounds even more. Caley played some good slick moves and always had runners in behind which we didn't deal with. Cove should never be starting the likes of Jamie Masson and with subs like Luis Longstaff, Gerry McDonagh, Leighton McIntosh there is quality needed to be added before the window closes, something all Cove fans are aware of. sophia
I'm rather excited by this Caley Thistle side. Whereas it has to be acknowledged that we allowed a committed but limited Cove side to grab some hope, when the the team put their mind to it, there was beauty and fair reward was reflected in goals. I was especially taken by Austin Samuels and his urgent ability to free himself from attention. His two goals would have shirley pleased him. His soaring confidence allowed him eschew a hat trick in favour of expertly ricocheting the ball off the keeper for a tap in for Shaw. TheScarf
Couldn’t make it on Saturday but that looked a very good performance against a somewhat bogey team of ours. Danny MacKay feeding Samuels and McKay will see us alright this season Imo.
