It was a good RWC but if there weren't residency rules it would be crap. There are only three or four places in the world where rugby is the major sport. NZ, Wales, SA & Pacific Islands. All these players have to be spread about to create competition.

It was a horribly skewed draw which saw most of the best nations on one side of it, resulting in two fundamentally weak semi finalists (even if England turned up and made a game of it once they got there) and the 1st, 3rd and 5th best teams in the world being drawn in the same group. It also dragged out interminably with a fortnight between games at times, taking almost 2 months to play start to finish.

At least three classic quarter finals , one classic semi final and a classic , dramatic final
jack carter
Jamie Jermaine Bynoe-Gittens just scored for Dortmund. He must have a Scottish granny surely?
Savage Henry
Can the OP please add a poll on whether the last rugby union World Cup was any good or not, because it’s infinitely more interesting than which Egyptian born players are eligible for Malta.

Point is - rugby needs a loose eligibility rule or there wouldn't be enough teams to make even decent QF jeopardy. Most of the Scotland rugby XV is about as Scottish as Elon Musk's tits, I wouldn't want us to end up in that situation. Funnily enough Argentina manage to get a half decent XV out without using NZ/SAers

Tartan Dave
Take it we all think there's no chance Quansah declares for us? A centre back regularly playing for Liverpool could be a great option for us

If you look at recent England squads centre back is probably the obvious position for a young player breaking through to fancy their chances of getting a game for them in the next few years, especially if Southgate leaves and takes his need to play Harry Maguire at all costs with him.

Sources are conflicting but they all agree he's eligible for England, Ghana, Barbados and Scotland through parentage and grandparents. I think it's a Scottish grandparent though at least one source implies his mother to be Scottish. Others say his parents are English born. He's played for England at under 16 level right through to u21 though and most speculation about his full international future relates to overtures from Ghana. I don't think there's any serious likelihood of him deciding he's Scottish any time soon.
BB_Bino
Has there been talks....is this a journalist that has let things slip.....or it it simply someone speculating on what fan chat has been around??? "Clarke has been regarded as very loyal to his Scotland players, but with the likes of Tino Livramento and Elliot Anderson at Newcastle emerging as eligible contenders for the squad, he says there will be much more under consideration than previous performances for the national team." Londonwell
I personally wouldn't read too much into that @BB_Bino Imo Barnes is the only one with a realistic chance of being in the squad. I'd rather him over Anderson anyway.
General dissaray
Rocco Vata looks like he is moving to Bolonga from Celtic hopefully we will still try and nick him of the Irish probably a first since they have a history of nicking players of Scotland Vata hasn't had a full cap yet but is involved with Ireland under 21 team who are probably pretty shit
Barry Ferguson's Hat
If Scotland Gemmill doesn't rate Vata enough for the U21s then I don't think we're missing much.
