Dundee v Morton 15-8-23

Recommended Posts

First 25 minutes was a masterclass in Imrieball, with an infuriating goal given away. Thankfully we scored a goal out of nowhere (a good one at that!) and looked like we'd gotten more used to the Imrieball by half time.

Second half started great and we really should've taken our chances better early on, but we didn't and were punished by a series of light fouls leading to a great free kick. Looked finished after that, especially after their 3rd, but momentum shifted quickly after our 2nd goal. Still had no expectations of us equalising but thankfully they punched one in at the death. Dropping points at home is never ideal, but the fight shown by the team and stealing what could be a valuable point has to give the players a lift, and they needed one going up north next week.

Oh, and get it right up Morten and that jakeball of a manager they have. Starting to love Hannant, that goal celebration and giving it back to Imrie were class.

The referee summed his performance up when he gave us a free kick on the edge of the box and used his spray. Morton players just tiptoed about 3-4 yards past the line and he lectured them for it then sprayed a fresh line at exactly where the Morton players had repositioned themselves.

Weak and incompetent doesn't cover it.

Another season of mid table obscurity for the unwashed dullards of Greenock.

A decent outcome for a team many favoured for relegation and getting six unexpected points from the third biggest team in Tayside has helped with that.

Who favoured you for relegation?!

In a league that contains Cove and Hamilton.  Really?  The bookies certainly didn’t make Morton favourites for relegation.

Also allowing a Morton player saunter off at the Main Stand side when he was about half a yard from the far touchline. Not enforcing the small rules like that is a sign of a weak referee.

At least that time-wasting came back to bite them in the end.

Believe it or not, this is the same referee who was in charge of our game at home to Caley when Lyall Cameron's perfectly good goal was chopped off for offside.

Chris Graham should never see a Championship game given to him again, but he definitely will.

We were favourites for relegation in pre season then we had a financial crisis that left us playing youth players with no subs until we got external funding. The squad is much better now but not going down was our sole aim this season to start with.
