Deanburn Dave
The game at Pollok was a tough test for the BU's. The Glasgow team were bigger, stronger and looked a settled, well drilled team. Their players knew where to be and where their team mates would be. All that comes with time and practice. Meantime the BU's with 6 or 7 new faces were struggling to get into a rhythm. Our back 3 got lots of touches but when they passed it forward the Lok midfield were on it like a hungry dog on a sausage. Up front Fin Malcolm was playing solo v some big scary weegies and he couldn't hold the ball up long enough. Heeps looked better when he came on but by then all the big scary defenders had been subbed. There are some decent players in the BU squad but it will take a time for them to settle in and play "Hunterball". Tuesday night we will hopefully get a better result v Crossgates. Not bad going when only three of the starting eleven were here last season! Seven overall that played today. Considering it is almost a totally new squad, they do seem to have gelled pretty quickly. Bodes well

The Lok didn't look or play like a new team.

Our new rookie manager Stuart Hunter is getting the BU team playing with wingbacks in a 3-4-2-1 formation. That is Hunterball !!

Deanburn Dave
All 5 goals are now on YouTube. The stand in BU keeper isn't the biggest ......maybe Musa would have made a difference. #ClutchingAtStraws
dolly
I think the new management team have had an almost impossible job to assemble a side in such a short space of time. In the two games so far, it hasn’t helped without a recognised goalkeeper or that McArthur seems to have his head turned elsewhere, he’s a shadow of last seasons player. some of the new guys seem useful but up front still looks a problem, but they need to be given time before judgements are made. let’s see what Tuesday brings

There's some decent players in the squad. Just need game time to get them playing as a team. Porteous as a 10 looks like he will get goals. Fin Malcolm looks a bit lost at the moment. Maybe a few more games and a goal will help settle him in.

Three of the six players announced last week (Fin Malcolm and two from CSS) were pre-contract signings made by Ian Little and Ward, Jacobs and Heeps still seem to be around beyond the nine or so (?) contract extensions that were announced when Ian Little was still in charge late last season so there likely weren't all that many players left to sign to fill out the squad and a limited budget left to do it with (Rutherford is described as a record signing which is a positive sign from this standpoint). Think the issue is more likely to be that the new management team have been saddled with another manager's signings who won't necessarily be the players they would have wanted to sign themselves especially if they have a different tactical system in mind from what Ian Little was planning to do. Deanburn Dave
Porteous is the record signing. Rutherford was out of contract.

The Pollok centrehalfs who had been dominant had been subbed by this point. 3-1..... With the BU's pushing for an unlikely and undeserved equaliser they were susceptible to a sloppy late goal like that. 4-1...BU heads were down and another sloppy goal was lost. Pollok have 9/10 new signings this season too. Will be another middling season for the BU’s I think.

Very early but that's my gut feeling as well. We have a rookie manager who, as mentioned above, has inherited a squad that already had players signed for the season by the previous manager and although he has brought in quite a few himself, it's not ideal. I think the BU faithful will need to be patient - not our greatest virtue, myself included - but there's a lot of goodwill towards the new management team and while every BU fan would love immediate success, we need to give Hunts time to implement his formation and tactics with the new squad even if there are a few bumps in the road. Nicholas Rage
Was always going to be a funny season with what happened around the management team, disappointing to already be expecting a middling season but reality of the situation. Hopefully Hunter can start to shape the team the way he wants, do something in the cups and give some excitement for next season .
Deanburn Dave
Against Pollok there were several times that BU players had easy forward passes available but chose the wrong (often backwards) pass. Hunter and the coaches given time will get that sorted out.
