As for a pop up plaything are they any different from many teams currently in LL founded on similar ideals opposed to the past where a club was a representative of a town. The tactic of signing guys on big wages relative to the league from three tiers above. Revolutionary.
GNU_Linux
The bit I find weird is Athletic still using the same colours as United. I can at least understand the badge still being similar due to being the town's emblem. Edited May 19 by GNU_Linux

Why would they change the colours when every other aspect of them is an attempt to leech off the BU

Quentin Taranbino
Thanks for the info, genuinely interesting - a few more questions and not meaning to stir any pots. Have the two clubs ever played? Has there been any players going between the clubs? Given the ground doesn't belong to Utd, surely they had no say on whether Athletic play there? I assume they don't pay you guys if not the owners? Is there ANY official connection between the two clubs on or off field? What is the difference in support between the two clubs? When did all this Linlithgow Thistle to Athletic stuff happen? Is it all the same owners of the club now as to when initial deals were done? What sort of money/players are they getting at that level? Could they realistically be in same league as you soon?

A genuinely shameful comment. 100% Bo’ness is the place to be. We all would love development to make the town where it should be. Football is nothing to do with this. Rivalries aside, investment will make the town the jewel in the Falkirk Council area and rightly so. -

Deanburn Dave
Cannot think of any Athletic players who have signed for the BU's. Interest was shown by the BU's in one of their players but Athletic were wanting silly money for him so it didn't happen. Going the other way - a very young Tiwi Daramola had a brief time at BU's and later signed for Athletic.

Linlithgow Thistle moved to the Juniors in 2019 and became Bo'ness United Juniors. In 2021 when the East Region Juniors was ending, Bo'ness United Juniors looked to move to the EoSFL. Which led to the name change to Bo'ness Athletic. This was the vision Linlithgow Thistle were originally trying to sell to people.
grinderbrokeyourhearts
Thistle play some great stuff. They pay players way above their Division 2 level and hose everything in sight really. Sets them up nicely to pick off a few teams in cups as they will have plenty fresh squad when you are 3-0 up at half time. Easy to make subs and keep it fresh. I reckon they are good enough to push to challenge this season again but will struggle when they hit the Premier and have to play at that level every week. That said they can obviously afford Cunningham and Heaver who would be good players in the East Prem. Cunningham is the perfect example, 3 goals all season at Linlithgow then about 30 goals in about 10 games for Athletic.
