I reckon getting rid of Ashgar and a guy who should never have been managing at the level he was has shaken off the torpor of last season for many Arabs.

I reckon 4,900 of them were probably sold after we signed a new keeper

1-0 Motherwell. No idea of the team

Dundee United (4-3-3) Walton (Newman 45); Freeman (Niskanen 60), Denham (Bisland 60), Holt (Graham 60), McMann (Duffy 60); Grimshaw (Meekison 60), Docherty (Mochrie 60), Glass (Sibbald 60); Chalmers (Middleton 45), Thomson (MacLeod 45), Fotheringham (Cudjoe 60).

Finding it interesting he sees Bisland as more of a centre back than a RB. Or is the formation getting changed to suit the players coming on?

In terms of numbers and squad balance we're probably quite well set to play a decent 433 if we can get a big, strong centre forward. Two players, just about, for every position and mostly one established pro/one younger guy as cover/competition.

Could probably lose one or two wingers/attacking midfielders and add another physical centre forward and right sided centre half ideally but not much more needing done beyond that.

Walton

Grimshaw - Denholm - Holt - McMann

Docherty - Glass - Sibbald

Middleton - New CF - Watt

Newman

Freeman - Bisland - Graham - Duffy

Meekison - Mochrie - Moore

Cudjoe - MacLeod - Fotheringham

Grimshaw probably intended to play midfield so maybe another first choice right back coming in at some point. I quite like Freeman but I'm not convinced Goodwin particularly rates him.

Same team I guessed (except New CF). But is it a decent team? Debatable.

I know it's not fair to compare different eras, but let's do it anyway. This was the team that lost to Dunfermline in that critical game that denied us automatic promotion way back in 1996.

Ally Maxwell
Steven Pressley
Mark Perry
Brian Welsh
Maurice Malpas
Grant Johnson
Dave Bowman
Craig Brewster
Owen Coyle
Robbie Winters
Gary McSwegan

Christian Dailly and Andy McLaren were on the bench!
