Guest
St Anthony's in Govan and St Rochs in Royston were both founded by League of the Cross members.

Dundee Hibernian
Perth Celtic were almost 100 years on the go when they went out of business during, I think, the 1988-89 season. They played at Jeanfield recreation ground, and had a cracking club close to Perth railway station.

Guest
Found a Maryhill Harp that's a new team on me. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maryhill_Harp_F.C.?wprov=sfla1 You've got Duntocher Harp. Is that the same team as Duntocher Hibs who played at Glenhead Park before Drumchapel Ams?

This was talked about at length on the Albion Rovers thread in the LL subforum recently. Conclusion from a poster with family ties to Govan and the Ants who will probably be along at some point was that Benburb were founded by Roman Catholics from that part of County Tyrone despite later generally being viewed as Rangers aligned in Rangers supporting circles. Years back I remember a thread on another forum about Dumbarton Harp that reached the conclusion that club may have moved in the opposite direction from that in terms of being founded by people linked to the shipbuilding industry who may have been from a Protestant background. Could have been complete bollocks though.

Mark Connolly
Grangemouth Sacred Heart Celtic won one of the Juvenile Cups in the late 20s, round about the time the church was built there
moses1924
Interesting thread, I would have said St Bernard's but a quick check reveals no Irish links. On a related note, St Modans in Stirling are a cricket club with Irish diaspora links.

Dundee Hibernian
1 hour ago, Thane of Cawdor said: Govan? Play in blue and white. They're in denial. Benburb (the Glasgow version) played in green and white until 1919, when, like several other clubs of that time, changed their outfits due to concerns they would be associated with the Irish troubles of the time. Two previous Glasgow clubs named Benburb, from Oatlands and Govanhill, also played in green and white. There were also clubs in Edniburgh named Benburb, including two named Leith Benburb. "Benburb" has a strong Irish association: there was probably a very strong reason some clubs in Scotland chose to have Benburb as a symbol in their names. The Battle of Benburb took place during the Irish Confederate Wars, Scottish Covenanters and settlers being soundly defeated by the Irish Confederates who were resisting the imposition of Protestant settlers from Scotland and to a lesser extent England
