Scotland v England 150th year anniversary match

Not sure why there is shock about the national anthems being booed. This happens every Scotland v England game, both anthems are booed whether it's in Hampden or Wembley, and will keep on happening at all these fixtures.

 

The game itself needed Scotland playing at 100% across the pitch but there were a couple of players that, it felt like, played at a "friendly" pace. A couple of tackles being shirked and concentration not fully there. Disappointing but can't let it get in the way of a successful qualifying campaign.

 

Agree with what has been previously said about Bellingham though, looked head and shoulders above the rest on the pitch.

we lost the 100th anniversary match 5-0 to England at Hampden in 1973 and then went on to qualify for the 1974 World Cup while England didn’t.

I read that he and the other Rangers players in the squad refused to play for Scotland on the day of Diana’s funeral, which almost cost us points as the SFA had to scramble to get UEFA to agree to a last minute postponement.

England fans regualrly boo our anthem and others, it doesn't in the least bit bother me, but we all know the reason it bothers him.  Some effort for him to turn it political and alienate himself from the support now.

The most noise, by far, during the minutes silence came from Scotland fans booing the booing England fans.

Yeah I don't get the whole booing them making a noise, but then you heard the constant England chants.  It's tit for tat point scoring they boo'd so we disrupted.

Scotland fans should have kept kept quiet. I really don’t get all this sinking to other folk’s levels.

Scotland fans shouldn’t have booed GSTK either nor the England fans singing GSTK and ‘Rule Britannia’ (which was written by a Scot)

Putting aside all political talk, he’s Scotland’s king as well (and I’m not a royalist) and Scotland was very much part of the ‘rule Britannia’ empire.

Not booing these songs would have made the English fans look very stupid for singing them IMO and would actually have wound them up. As it was, they were the ones winding up the Scots.

^^^ This was the noticeable thing to me, a defensive high line, with no high press!  

It just allowed Philips and their back 4 to ping through balls when and wherever they liked. If you give good players time & space to prove that they're good players, that's exactly what they'll do. Tactical suicide imo, we clearly can't do that against Spain.

Absolutely love Ally McCoist on commentary but he's such a c**t of a guy. His comments on TalkSport about it being SNP supporters booing England's national anthem and how he was singing along with it because he's British and that anyone that booed is a disgrace were just a bit embarrassing. 

I get that it's TalkSport but FFS.
