Got myself up to the Fair City last night for Perth derby. Jeanfield, despite being the better side, just about managed to hold on to win 4-3. Credit to Kinnoull for making a right good competitive match out of it.

Jeanfield were far better side in first half and Kinnoull struggled to get close to them. But Kinnoull were their own worst enemies giving away sloppy goals. 2 goalkeeping fumbles had Jeanfield 2 up early. Kinnoull heads didn't drop which would be easy in their position and when Jeanfield switched off from a throw-in, they moved quickly and got it back to 2-1. But a silly challenge in the box gave Jeanfield a penalty to go 3-1 up at the break.

Second half was much more even and Kinnoull got themselves forward more often and got back into it again with a well worked goal, switching play from side to side. A soft penalty however let Jeanfield get 4-2 up; even the Jeanfield bench all said no foul and defender played the ball. Kinnoull set up a grandstand finish by getting it back to 4-3 with 5 minutes to play, but Jeanfield changed their shape, filled a lot of the gaps at the back and held on for the win.

Good game. Good pie. And always a good drive up.

Kinnoull... yes they look like a struggling side, but on last nights showing it's hard to see how they have got so detached at the bottom. A number of their players are very comfortable with the ball and they have a bit of pace in the team too. They'll be disappointed with all the goals they conceded.

Jeanfield play a lot of nice stuff and move the ball well... but for all that the 4 goals were 2 penalties and 2 mistakes from the goalie.

Agree 100% with match report, guess you have to add in the number of wayward efforts from the Swifts - especially 2nd half, but a decent game with Kinnoull looking a threat going forward and never giving up. Didnt look a bad crowd, and a nice ground in the making.

I've been up to the two recent Jeanfield midweek games now... and the amount of chances the actually missed in both is incredible - and it cost them dearly in the Luncarty game. The do create a lot, but seem wasteful. Can't really blame the surface as looks to be one of the better grass pitches and in good condition.

Weren't even a lot of missed chances agasint Sauchie - they just struggled to string 2 passes together. Gave up possession too often and too easily. Looked like a side that are just waiting for the season to end.
