soft-touch
Has anyone been recently for a day/night out? Looking for suggestions for somewhere to watch football and a few pubs at night.
vikingTON
Bacchus is an excellent place for watching a game, plenty of TVs and a wide selection of beers (not just Carling and other shite) too. The Crown Posada is an excellent pub though probably not for watching football IMO. A jaunt downriver (20-30 minutes) to Ouseburn and the Tyne Bar (among others) is worth doing if you have more time.
Thane of Cawdor
Astonishingly, one of the better options is the Wetherspoon's on the Quayside. Extensive premises, large external seating area at the front and seating overlooking the river at the rear. Wetherspoon prices without Wetherspoon clientele. I don't think Tim Martin forks out for access to sporting events. Tilley's and the Bodega at the foot of Westgate Road are also civilised central pubs if that is one of your criteria.
