Stabbings in Dublin

There has been a horror attack in Dublin, with a number of young schoolchildren stabbed outside a school in the centre of the city. 

Two five year olds and a six year old were stabbed as was a 30 year old woman. A 50 year old man has been detained, he has suffered serious injuries, presumably while being arrested.  An Irish Labour Party senator who was in the area said the children were attacked while queuing for an after school club.  Thankfully no-one has been reported as killed in the attack, although a five year old girl and the 30 yo woman are reported to have serious injuries.

There are online rumours that the attacker is an Algerian immigrant to Ireland and there seems to be extensive, ongoing rioting in Dublin following the attack. Seems like various anti-immigrant groups attended the scene after the attack and rioting and looting has been going on. A number of police vehicles have been set on fire - rumours of Army vehicles have been confirmed as untrue

That must have all kicked off in the last three hours, news reports at 6 o'clock were just of the "incident", which had happened 2 or 3 hours earlier.

Apparently that is unrelated to the disorder - 

" The Irish Defence Forces have clarified that certain images circulating online "are not from this evening but from a separate routine operation".

Images on social media showing army personnel carriers in Dublin had led to speculation soldiers have been deployed to tackle the disorder in the city. But the defence forces' post clarifies that these pictures "have no connection to this evening's events".

The post adds: "We ask everyone to be sensitive to the spreading disinformation, and to take care." '

Anti immigrant sentiment has been growing lately here with arrivals of bus loads daily with the usual far right suspects filming them coming in and trying to get into their dormitories.

There was a trial in the last couple of weeks for a slovakian man who stabbed a young teacher 11 times who was just jogging by the canal.  And now this has happened. Its all the people needed to kick off.

Nothing says protecting public safety like turning your capital city into a lawless hell hole.

I thought of that when I saw the rioting - there seems to have been a big reaction to the case you mentioned.

Slinging faeces at each other, assaulting tourists, cutting each other into pieces and leaving the body parts in travel bags, shooting people in hotels. It just leaves a sour taste.
