TxRover
Noticed the Hot Potato post in HL recently, and decided to check on the Championship Hot Potato. Rules, as always, the team losing the first game day match by the most is awarded the Hot Potato…it then goes to the loser of each subsequent match featuring the holder. On that basis, the Initial Holder of the Championship Hot Potato, 2023-2024, is Arbroath for their loss by 4 to Dundee Utd, Arbroath retain the Potato in matchday 2, losing to Queen’s Park, Arbroath then retain the Potato in the matchday 11 game played the next weekend against, Queen’s Park, Morton capture the prized Spud in matchday 3, losing to Arbroath, Morton retain the Potato in matchday 4 against Partick, Morton manage to hold it again for matchday 5 despite Dundee Utd’s best effort, Morton hold it a fourth time losing to the Pars in matchday 6, Morton make it five in matchday 7, losing to Airdrie, Morton get to six by drawing Queen’s Park in matchday 8, Morton skip matchday 9, retaining the Potato, Ayr are awarded the Potato in matchday 10 with a loss to Morton, Ayr keep the Spud, drawing Partick in matchday 11, Ayr keep rolling and draw Queen’s Park in matchday 12 to retain the Tattie, And, with a loss to ICT in matchday 13, Ayr are the current Hot Potato holders of the Scottish Championship! With the exciting Ayr v Arbroath game for matchday 14, can we see a boomerang spud?

Chippyminton
Anyone who hasn’t tried Ayrshires with butter and spring onions really should do. It’s like angels kissing your tongue. Reading through the stats so far, it’s encouraging to see that Ton are at least champions at something
keyser_soze
Bump - From what I can gather.. Ayr lose to Dundee Utd and continue to hold the spud Ayr finally relinquish their grasp on the tattie by beating Airdrie Airdrie retain after a goalless draw with Morton Queens Park take the spud with a defeat to Airdire at Hampden QP lose to Partick to keep the spud Dunfermline are the new holders after defeat at the hands of QP Valiant effort to pass the potato to the league favorite's but a 0-0 draw see's the Pars retain possession. 0-5 defeat at home to Morton Pars retain again Home draw with Arbroath, Pars hold the potato for the 4th game in a row. Think that's right however I didn't spend too much time looking into it Edited February 20 by keyser_soze

Think that's right however I didn't spend too much time looking into it I had completely lost track of this with the trip planning and everything else…thanks for the reminder…looking over your ciphering, it looks like you are spot on, with the Pars holding the tattie at the end of HP:MD23 This weeks Steaming Spud Bowl will be Patrick vs the Pars as the Pars go for five on the bounce in Hot Potato Match Day 24 So far this year: Arborath hold for the first two weeks, Morton retain it for seven weeks, one due to a postponed match, Ayr then hold for six weeks, including a “missing week” due to postponements, Airdrie get the spud for two weeks, Queen’s Park get Kitchen Patrol for two weeks, And now the Pars are on a serious run with four weeks of potato passion. So we have just four teams who haven’t tasted the sweet flavor of the Spud of Doom this year, the top three and ICT. Can the Pars make it just three with a win this weekend? . TxRover
So Partick retained the spud with the 4-3 loss to Ayr. They retained it with the 1-1 DU draw, and are now looking to gift the Spiders the tattie.

Chippyminton
The absolute best thing about this thread is the constantly-ingenious methods contributors think of to portray the humble tattie/spud/whatever. TxRover’s ‘Tuber’ was truly inspired. Respect is due. Edited March 9 by Chippyminton
TxRover
So Partick hold the patate chaude through the draw with Queen's Park, the loss to Raith and finally dump the hot mess onto Morton. Now it's Morton's turn to try to gift it back to the Pars! Current Hot Potato Table Morton 8 Ayr 6 Dunfermline and Partick 4 Airdrie, Arbroath and Queen’s Park 2 Dundee United, ICT and Raith 0

cb_diamond
Surely not just a coincidence that the thing that looks like a potato more than anything else in the Championship is Dougie Imrie's head and the spud keeps making its way back to Morton?
TxRover
So Morton fail to hand a cunningly disguised Mr. Potato Head to the Pars, retaining it for another week. Next week, it's Queen's Park in the barrel with Morton. TxRover
Queen's Park fall for Morton's trojan tattie, taking the spud into next weekend's tilt with DU.
