  1. Not for the tens of thousands of supporters who'd followed their club for decades it wasn't. You've also conveniently forgotten about your club's turmoil at the arse-end of the Jacqui Low era, so we'll agree to disagree.
  2. To be fair, any supporter of any club on the edge of such a potentially fatal precipice would do exactly the same. I don't blame any Caley fan for being hopeful, optimistic - or even desperate for a positive outcome. And as for those gloating and roasting over the club's misfortune - they're not looking at the bigger picture. Whatever the historical reason, the loss of any club under any circumstances isn't good for the game IMO, and I for one really hope this gets resolved.
  3. If only all P&B threads were as civilised as this one. Fair play to both sets of supporters.
  4. All the best and congratulations on your anniversary. Given the nature of today's occasion, I expect nothing less than a 15-0 home win.
  5. Reasonable banter as always SM - but move on. Your own fine team can boast three 9-0 defeats (Rangers, Hearts and Third Lanark). My favourite P&B posts are from those gloating about today's game and about impending future glory - not dragging up shite results from forever ago. You're one of Ayr's best posters and you're way better than that.
  6. Fair play so = but what about the other 89 minutes and 30 seconds when the Ayr laddie wasn't stepping up to take the penalty? A penalty which we had stupidly given away in the face of the universally-acknowledged worst referee in Championship history? A ref with a forehead which continues to astound anatomical science? A ref who'd give a penalty for a player's shirt being a bit creased (thereby bringing the game into disrepute)? Where were the half-dozen 'almost' goals which hit the post or were blocked by world-class keeper saves? Bottom line = Had we already used our skills and quality to put the game beyond any hope of a possible Ayr recovery? Answer = No. We f**king hadn't. There comes a point when any supporter of any club has to take it on the chin and and admit that we lost because we were second best to an admittedly average-looking side. As said earlier - an unpopular opinion amongst my fellow supporters. I'd just rather take the philosphical 'it was what it was' attitude and congratulate The Honest Men on their marginal (but on balance - probably deserved) win. It's history. Sunday's fish & chips wrappers. Onto next week.
  7. Obviously not a popular opinion amongst my fellow supporters - but I've watched the video about ten times. Looked like a perfectly good spot kick to me.
  8. 7-0 with Gorgeous George getting all 9? Is the game being officiated by a Sevco ref?
  9. I wasn't at the game but I saw the highlights. Our passing game has changed remarkably since last season, and we're moving the ball around really well, creating some decent openings. The lack of a striker is still obviously a massive hole in the squad, but I also thought Reynolds had his best game for us so far. There's definitely a player in there, and he was desperately unlucky not to score from that volley (fantastic save by the keeper). From the doom & gloom of weeks past - our performance against (an admittedly shite) Airdrie gave me a glimmer of hope. Looking forward to the game, especially as Ayr's just a few miles up the road from me and Somerset Park's always a decent away day. Mon eh Ton.
  10. Maybe he’s literally all that was available. When you scrape the bottom of the barrel, you’ll get dregs.
  11. 1 - Conscious and competent. Teams who are ace - and who know they are. 2 - Conscious and incompetent. Teams who are shite - and who know they are. 3 - Unconscious and competent. Teams who think they're shite - but who are actually pretty good. And finally, the most dangerous category of all; 4 - Unconscious and incompetent. Teams who are shite - but who don't realise that they are. Place your teams, laddies .........
  12. Cruel, @wullieaufc Very, very cruel. But fair I'm sure you'll go easy on my chumpiness in the future because you'll take pity on the fact that I stay closer to Somerset Park than I do to Cappielow. And I also proudly hold the honour of once having had a pished-up stag-night kebab from that place on the corner of Heathfield Road only 8 hours before South Ayrshire Council brought the white-suited biohazard laddies in. Against all the odds - I survived, although the residual botulism still kicks in now & then, and I can still remember biting into that kebab thinking that it smelled a bit like human shite What a great f**king night, though. The stuff of legends. BTW I also remember the Kyle Centre when it had shops in it. Please send George Oakley back.
  13. Aye. But I'm taking it squarely on the chin in true Ton style like a heroic blue-and-white-hooped gladiator. And I freely admit that I'm talking Jimmy Hill and Bruce Forsyth chin level.
