NotThePars
Just realised Wrestling is in Misc Other Sports. WTF. Shouldn't it be in a Theatre sub-category or something? Until they add an anime sub-forum there’s going to be a lot of dispute over where it belongs. Stick it in the junior forum and see how some of the stragglers get on imo.

To be clear, he wants the UK Labour Party to outright oppose a second Scottish referendum, no matter what the people of Scotland or the Scottish Parliament democratically express a desire for. Yet he is also perfectly willing for the UK Labour Party to “not rule out” a second EU referendum, if that’s what its members democratically express a desire for. That’s branch office democracy for you: parochial, incoherent, inconsistent, and hypocritical. They deserve a pathetic waste of space as their regional officer. capybara
Richard Leonard is a complete and utter waste of space.Totally agree but he is making more of a mess than Sarwar. So I would leave him where he is.

The absolute lack of quality in Scottish Labour is shocking. In part it’s amusing but any representative democracy requires a strong opposition and neither Labour or the Tories provide that.

Antlion
Relax. Leonard is nothing and Corbyn has about as much chance of being Prime Minister as I do of being crowned Miss Teen Texas. However, it would be glorious if Corbyn were somehow elected and had to tell Scots, “no: we own you - all your democracy are belong to us”. A Labour minority government dependent upon SNP support would have to capitulate on a second Referendum.

DA Baracus
Why are Labour so massively opposed to a second referendum (and independence in general)? Why do they care? Scotland is nothing to them. Are they just annoyed that we dare to think for ourselves? No idea why they so vehemently wish to deny us democracy. Very Tory of them.
Paco
Why are Labour so massively opposed to a second referendum (and independence in general)? The vast majority of Scottish Labour voters will be opposed to Scottish independence. Not really difficult, that one.

O'Kelly Isley III
But why? Are they just following what their party says?Visceral hatred, that's why. But if my neck of the woods is anything to go by, the local membership and party apparatus has all but imploded. In their saner moments Leonard and Co must realise that they are finished in Scotland, their hope being that they will be 'part' of a future Labour UK Government. The only problem there is that without Scotland they are shafted.f**k them.
Granny Danger
Labour backing a second EU referendum with the option of not leaving is a no brainer. All the indicators are that the overwhelming majority of Labour voters want this and the overwhelming majority of Labour members want this. It would seem some non-Labour voters want this too. A no brainer that could well be rejected or watered down to give Corbyn an out. It is stupid beyond belief. I hope a clear and unequivocal policy of supporting a second referendum including the option to stay is decided.

dorlomin
Conference should have a 80s feel to it. The hard liners will be in a power struggle with the unions for the shape of the party. One or two gobshite bams will make a scene for the right wing tabloids to droll on about. Rumours about a "new party" will be in the air and end up nothing burgers. Political nerds getting their kecks up over things other political nerds are doing and saying and most of the world outside will barely notice other than a couple of comedy stories in The Sun.
