Bleakest five words I've read

Well, I was coding for the first 5 years or so (in Cobol if you please, which really dates me). On mainframes, then on newfangled 8086 PCs. I remember the excitement when we git our first 80286 powered PC with a huge 20MB HDD

Not sure if anyone here is in a position of influence, but if we can have a repeat of this in the early hours of 3 August that would disrupt all flights for about 48 hours I would be very grateful.

Sorry to hear that, JG.

I'm out of it now. :thumsup2

The first day I woke up after retiring I could nearly see the stress disappearing over the horizon, and I no longer opened up my e-mail account with a sense of dread.

Test run for the big one that's coming soon 'problem-reaction-solution'.

The 'solution' being a 'brain computer interface' chip, implanted in your skull. IMO.

Thank you.

What would occur if the brain computer got blue screen of death'd?

Working on stuff like this is my job and this is probably the biggest one that I've experienced, certainly the biggest global outage.

Username checks out!

If you work in IT, you should be sent on a compulsory plumbing course IMO.

Why? We already deal with enough shite.

You will need something to fall back on when computers cease to function.

Meh, the robots will have killed us all by then.

Quick question. Is it Bill of Quantities or Bills of Quantities?

Either does, I think, we usually chatted about producing a Bill of Quantities, but it was often just called the Bill, viz how's the Bill coming on for the new houses.

An architect takes his family out for a drive after Sunday lunch. As they pass a magnificent mansion he remarks "I designed that house."

A building contractor takes his family out for a drive after Sunday lunch. As they pass a magnificent mansion he says "I built that house."

A quantity surveyor took his wife and family out for a drive after Sunday lunch. As they pass a magnificent mansion he says "I counted the bricks in that house."
