Where can the EOSFA/L improve?

I’m kinda ambivalent to the JC but in the absence of a national non-league trophy, it fills a certain gap. Would much prefer there was one similar to the FA Trophy

It fills a certain gap my arse. The South Challenge Cup is there for all to enter. Unfortunately clubs up north have no intention of joining in so it’s pretty much as good as it’s going to get in terms of a national non league cup.

I don't believe the rules permit clubs north of the Tay Bridge to participate

That's old as you will notice from no WoSFL mentioned.

The South Challenge Cup is ultimately ran by the 4 Lowland Leagues. If they wanted to open it up and include the 4 North Leagues or invite guests they could. Just as they can change the name. There just there's isn't the interest from enough on either side to do so.

The same applies to the Junior Scottish Cup.

The leagues and the SJFA have tried to get their own proposals off the ground, and they both failed.

That’s where, perhaps, the SFA should take the lead and organise a national competition that encompasses Tier 5 down (could even be made mandatory for the higher levels) with some regionalisation in the opening couple of rounds

The SFA as it stands have shown no interest and are too busy trying to find the balance with the Scottish Cup and growing non-league participants.

The Scottish Cup ticks the boxes for a lot of teams. There's around 80+ non-league teams that are licensed. Majority of them would only get a game or two before being knocked out. That's what they have now with the Scottish Cup.

Its a factor in why the stalemate exists.

Because you said south challenge isn't a national competition but everyone is In it except North juniors and Tayside teams. So the reality is its so you can play Tayside teams

And Highland League which, last I checked, involved no teams on Tayside.

Theres also the North Caledonian League - which isn’t Tayside either.

Apologies if I am mis-reading this but it is curious how the Junior FA appears to be trying to justify it's very existence at a time when it serves little useful purpose anymore other than as an apparently disruptive influence.

The once famous Junior Cup is a shadow of it's former self. Just check out recent season's Cup-Final attendance estimates and compare them with pre-pyramid days. The whole of the Highland League, North Caledonian League, the vast majority of the EoS (most ex Junior clubs) do not enter. Even Auchinleck Talbot found a way to get out of it at an early stage this season! Then there's been the reported mess made of the Junior's web site this season and the reported significant difficulties with dealing with the new SFA registration system. Next the Midlands and North region leagues going their own way with brand new web sites.

Criticism of leagues is fine as all need to improve in one way or another. The timing of the creation of this thread which seems to be a typical "disrupter" effort of "lets have a go at the EoS" fitted perfectly (but co-incidentally?) with the announcements that two leagues which are still run directly by the Juniors have just announced brand new web sites i.e. North and Midlands.

All this at a time when not only the Juniors but also the Amateur and Welfare FAs are struggling to justify themselves in the modern times of the pyramid era. Nostalgia is good but don't let it detract from the present, please! Time to move on.

Great. What does that have to do with wanting the SFA to introduce a nationwide non-league trophy?

Because you said it was the reason to play in the junior Cup but none of these sides are in it. The only difference currently between South Challenge and junior Cup is Tayside and North juniors

Again, what does that have to do with wanting a national non-league trophy introduced? SCC isn't a national trophy.
