McCormack tells Leeds he wants to leave
by Simon Austin
Star striker Ross McCormack has rocked Leeds United by telling owner Massimo Cellino that he wants to leave the club.
McCormack, 27, informed Cellino of his decision at a face to face meeting at Elland Road earlier this week.
The Scotland international was top scorer in the Championship last season with 29 goals. He was also Leeds' player of the season.
Italian Cellino has always said he is determined to keep McCormack - but only if the player wants to stay.
And the 57-year-old was shocked and saddened by McCormack's decision.
Cardiff, Norwich, Fulham and Derby have all made enquiries about the prolific striker and his exit now seems inevitable.
The news will be another big blow to fans of the Yorkshire giants. Many are angry after little-known Dave Hockaday was appointed head coach of the club last week.
McCormack has been at Leeds for four seasons and is a huge fan favourite.
He did turn up for the first day of pre-season training on Thursday and for the club's kit launch this morning, but it is uncertain whether he will join the rest of the players on their training camp in Italy next week.

Apparently Chievo goalkeeper Marco Silvestri could be going to Leeds on loan. He's fairly highly thought of, but the general opinion is that he's not really ready to play in Serie A and he's still fairly young. If he plays well that can only be good for us, either we'll be getting a much more experienced player back or we'll be able to sell him for an inflated English price.

1st kick off change announced:-

United’s away trip to face Huddersfield Town will now kick off at 12.30pm.

The Yorkshire derby will remain on Saturday January 31 2015 but the tie has been moved to an eariler start time of 12.30pm after a police request.

Recent trips to face our West Yorkshire rivals have been lunchtime starts including last season’s 3-2 defeat and United’s 4-2 win in the 2012/13 season.

Leeds United can confirm that the contract of Marius Zaliukas has now been terminated by mutual consent.

The Lithuanian international defender had one year remaining on his United contract but he is now free to look for a new club ahead of the new season.

Marius, who signed for the club in October 2013, made a total of 15 league appearances for United during the 2013/14 Championship season.

The club would like to wish Marius all the best for the future.

Without going through the last few pages, has anyone seen the BBC story about the Leeds squad being asked to bring a packed lunch and wash their own kits to cut costs?

Yes, probably not a big thing on this thread because given the chaos at LUFC at the moment it hardly even registers.

As an example of another mad story that hasn't been mentioned here over the last 24 hours it seem LUFC's 1st choice Keeper Paddy Kenny is out of favour with LUFC because he was born on the wrong date. Our current owner thinks anything related to the number 17 is bad news.

Same story with the colour purple apparently.
