Haitch Posted August 27, 2008 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Sorry folks. I am backing one horse today. Ayr 16:10 Crow Wood 14/1 First caught the eye as I noticed it was running in a class 4 race. I normally associate this horse with class 1 and 2's. Right enough, this is only the second time in over 20 races it has entered at this level. Trainer, John Quinn's yard, is flying at the moment. Out of his last 11 runs he has had 9 placed. Quite a long way to come up from Yorkshire with only two horses.The jockey Graham Gibbons is also flying at the moment recording 11 places, 4 wins in his last 15 races! To add to all these positives, Crow Wood has run at Ayr twice before, winning one and coming 2nd in the other. 10f is his specialist distance and has won on todays good to soft ground. Crow Wood did race a couple of weeks back but was a reappearance from a lengthy break so would have used that to get back to some kind of decent fitness. In my opinion Crow Wood takes all the beating here today and at 14/1 is a massive price. Why I am betting at Great Leighs I do not know, however had some joy here, so backed this with Dane O'Neil on board. 3 of my favourite jockeys have races today Dane O'Neil, some big priced winners for me. Neil Callan (Swindon town flyer 10/1, well worth £5 e/w), once again, alot of success at nicely priced horses. Will keep an eye out for it next time it runs (I really should write these down, as I have about 10 horses like this and usually forget there names then when I check the papers a few weeks down the line I know they are 10/1 winners ) *edit. My old man is called Harry and had a bit of luck with horses with that name in, in the past. No logic, form studying behind it.
