vikingTON Posted November 16, 2014 Share Posted November 16, 2014 You can't seriously attain a ceasefire while one side builds settlements on fucking obviously occupied land like the West Bank; that does not condone the intifadas, which have actually harmed the Palestinian cause more than any other act, but it also means that Israel's arse-lickers need to account for their state's major responsibility for the conflict, acts that were ongoing for years prior to the 2000 outbreak of violence, yet uncontested due to the lack of support for Palestinian rights compared to Israel/US' key alliance. While the Israel/US alliance remains strong then there is no prospect of Palestinian nationalists achieving their goals. If the US ditches Israel or (more likely) Israel is transformed by its fascinating internal demographic struggle into an apartheid-Orthodox state and a majority Israeli-Arab population, then things will change decisively. Israel as a state could well survive but not as a declared 'Jewish' state, no more than the Crusader states of the Middle Ages lingered. Israel needs to be able to incorporate former, loosely-described 'Palestinians' into a vision of modern prosperity or the state will fail.
