I wish.  Hope everyone who does travel has a great time win lose or draw.

Been reading the St Mirren thread over the last few days, that Div p***k and a few others already talking about the next round and them not being seeded.

    Go on Loons, break P&B

et ask - is that our first ever game at that stadium?

    😂😂😂

Should be a decent game and I’m sure Ray won’t make the same mistakes that Dick Campbell made last weekend.

If Forfar sit in and play on the counter then you certainly have a chance of getting the point you need, or I guess even more.

If we do go ahead though and you eventually need to chase the game, we should really win fairly comfortably.

    First goal is everything today.

    Enjoy your trip!

  2. On the subject of Bolton, I’ve no problem at all with a 1 year contract.

By all accounts of it wasn’t for his injury problems he’d probably be playing in the English Championship this coming season, earning multiple times what he’ll be getting from us.

Hopefully those injury issues are behind him and he has a stellar season for us. If that paves the way for him going back down South then all fair and good in my book!

I’ve very high hopes that he could be a diamond.

Any bars at the ground or surrounding areas....some Loons travelling down on the train tomorrow.

There aren’t any decent pubs that close to the stadium.

Buy your train ticket to Paisley St James but get off at Paisley Gilmour Street and have your pre match pints in the town centre.

Bankhouse, Argyll and Court bars are decent and within 2 mins walk of Gilmour Street.

Then if you are lazy you go back to the station and get the 1451 train to Paisley  St James which drops you right at the away end at 1453 🎉

  4. Offord will certainly go out on loan. I'm less convinced that Olusanya and Jamieson will though, think they will provide something lively off the bench at least.

Think we are really lacking in flair/creativity.

Otherwise the game plan is going to be get the ball wide, get loads of crosses into the box and hope Mandron/Olusanya/Mystery Man cause enough havoc that the other strikers can feed off. It's a bit predictable!

A lot is going to ride on McMenamin being decent, especially if Kiltie is going to be out for a while.

  5. Thought I'd have a look at the squad and look at all our current options for positions in the 3-5-2. I might be pushing it a bit with some of them but see what you think. Players listed in no particular order.

St Mirren have agreed a deal for a mystery forward they have been chasing for “a long time”, says Stephen Robinson.

The manager is refused to divulge the player’s name until the signing is complete, but he is “excited” about the prospective new arrival.

The Buddies have already added winger Conor McMenamin, strikers Mikael Mandron and Stav Nachmani and goalkeeper Zach Hemming for the upcoming season, while frontmen Curtis Main and Eamonn Brophy have departed.

Robinson, whose side are away to Montrose in their Viaplay Cup opener on Saturday, said: "Stav Nachmani will come into the country (from Israel) on Saturday and train next week and hopefully be involved in the Arbroath game.

"We have one more forward player coming in for that we agreed a deal for last night. So plenty of competition.

"Once it is signed and sealed we will reveal all. I am excited about him. It is someone I have chased for a long time.

"He's a big boy, quick, physical and once we get pen to paper then I will reveal a little bit more.

"I am quietly confident that will get done in the next couple of days. I believe we have made the squad stronger."

It seems a cliche but "big lad, unlucky with injuries, worth a punt as he can be decent" seems right out of the Robinson playbook.

It does. I think we've demonstrated that, aside from Brophy and I guess to a much lesser extent Tanser, we've proven that we can keep supposedly injury prone players mostly off the treatment table.

Can't legislate for one off injuries which are part and parcel of the game, but we do seem to have staff that can get to the bottom of and solve recurring fitness woes.

Hopefully Bolton will come in and do well, certainly seems to have the ability if we can get and keep him fit.

Right lads, pub recommendations for Saturday. Planning to go to Gilmour Street station and visiting a few en route to the ground.

Not fussy but would rather avoid Wetherspoons type places.

Last Post right outside the station is a Wetherspoons so patch that.
Bankhouse, Argyll and Court Bar would be your best three to visit IMO.

Or stay in Glasgow and get the 14:35 train to Paisley St.James which is literally at the stadium and at the right end of the ground for you too.

  9. Gallagher will sign for Utd today anyway, Goodwin more or less confirmed that in his post match interview last night.

Too big an opportunity for us for it to be affected by the Dunne injury.

Getting a fee and presumably a big wage off the books for a player that is past his top flight best will be a coup, but I also think it’s a good signing for Utd so everyone wins.

If that allows us to bring in a new CB and LWB then it’s a good result.

New striker will surely arrive before the end of the week.

And I’d expect us to put the pedal down on the Carson departure too.

    Big few days ahead.

I’ve heard our own players getting abuse and don’t get it, if someone at their work was standing over them constantly giving them stick would it inspire them to improve or make more mistakes?

These experts don’t know what instruction they’ve been given and maybe not comfortable with.

    100%.

I've never understood why folk abuse their own players.

If you REALLY need to shout abuse at the football there are 11 men in the opposition team you could vent at.

Especially hate to see young players getting it.

On that note, and I know it wasn't ALL because he was homegrown,  but the abuse McAusland got from day one was absolutely ridiculous. He even won a major trophy with us and he still got dogs abuse every week from a small section of absolute morons!
