  1. An absolute bombscare by all accounts from what my mates say, wouldn't be worth signing. McGurn was on the bench tonight though, what was it that impressed you about him? As for the game itself, I thought we managed to hold our own against superior opposition. It's only a friendly match in which the result is meaningless, but it's reassuring that we didn't get thumped! Simmons has been excellent these past two games. Some really good passes and he puts himself about. I really hope he can continue like this. Tade does the job until he's in front of goal. He really, really needs to get composure from somewhere. Hopefully it'll come soon. Ellis was poor, as were Ferry and Davidson. O'Connor had a few decent saves, but looked shaky at times. It's a shame we never got to see Darren Smith play. I can only assume he was injured?
  2. When files seem to just disappear from your computer. Thankfully, the files in question are on My MP3 player, so I've not lost them completely.
  3. The same size as last year should be fine. Was for me anyway, albeit mine is a bit baggy about the arms.
  4. Do you remember the red away shirt we had when Coolforce sponsored us? It's quite similar to that.
  5. I agree, although I still call it a roll on sausage. That's the best justification I could think of for the bad use of English.
  6. Why is a building still called a building when it's built?
  7. To be honest, I think it's quite similar to the red top of a couple of seasons ago. I actually quite like it. May purchase it later on in the season.
  8. I was doing the same He really is a grotty, whinging, snot faced, hacking wee p***k though. I can't stand him.
  9. Aye, me too. He'll probably gain a bit more composure with a couple of games under his belt. Was that you who was shouting at Lovering from the back, btw?
  10. Yep. I though Murray was good first half, although didn't look entirely comfortable at LB in the second. Despite my reservations on him, I was quite impressed with Hill when he came on. On that showing, either would be a good addition. We'll see how they get on against Norwich. As for the signings, I though Darren Smith had a very good first half. Showed some skill and beat a few players. Shame he was subbed at HT, I'd have liked to have seen more of him. Tade showed quite a lot of pace and again beat a few players. He should have scored though. A pretty good showing all things considered. I didn't think Williamson had all that much to do apart from his goals. Got himself into a really good position for his second, well taken penalty too. I don't think I really need to say much about the rest, we all know what to expect. Mark Campbell was rock solid today though, and McGurn had a fantastic save just before HT. I assume Davidson is injured, seeing how he wasn't even in the squad?
  11. We've no chance of Callum Elliot. He'd started to force his way into the Hearts team at the end of last season, they'll be wanting him there to push for a starting place. I think Gary Glen is the feasible option if we get a loan striker from Hearts. Either that, or someone that no-one has heard of. As for Armand One, just no.
  12. I was playing at Highlands Reserve. It's just off US 27 between Clermont and Davenport. The only laugh I really got out of them was that they had a little girl who must have been about 6 with them. Unlike the other three, she actually looked like she could swing a club. I put two shots clean out of the course with the three wood. Massive slices on both shots. Thankfully I missed the villas, unlike my exploits when I played in Portugal
  13. Americans really are the most irritating c***s on a golf course. When I was in Florida, we played a round on my dad's birthday. The group in front of us were nothing short of a nightmare. Each and every one of them was hopeless at golf, but that didn't stop them from taking 3 practice swings before every damn shot. It was morning golf, not the fucking US open Being the p***ks they were, they wouldn't let us play through either. We missed out the 9th hole and jumped ahead of them. That calmed us down a bit.
  14. Fair enough. It just seems to be more of a loss considering the options we had come the later part of last season. If ever we needed McGlynn to produce a good loan signing, it's now though. I really hope he'll get a guy who'll score 10-15 at least in, as I can't see Tade or Weir getting all that many goals. I'd be happy with that. Much preferable to Dougie Hill. Murray can play at CB and RB according to one of the Partick posters. Additionally, Darren Smith can fill in at LB if needed, as could Mark Ferry I guess. For any injuries to CBs, Ellis or Davidson (shudder) could fit in.
  15. Loans are either hit or miss usually. For every Kevin Smith, we get a Denis McLaughlin etc. It has to be said, most our loanees under McGlynn have done well though. That said, I'd rather we weren't reliant upon them.
  16. No-one's suggesting we sign players outwith our budget. I (along with a few others) are a just a bit disappointed with the signings we have made. Personally, I feel we've a very light squad. We've lost - Hislop, Wardlaw, Smith, Cook, Lumsden, Wales and Marv. In, we've got: Williamson, D. Smith and Tade. We have nowhere nearly adequately replaced what we've lost, which is a concern. We've lost 4 out and out strikers and replaced them a couple of guys, who although can play upfront, aren't really out and out strikers. On the face of it, you'd have expected: either more players in, or perhaps the same amount, but a slightly higher calibre. I could be wrong, but I don't see 3 wages totaling the same as 6 (I'll discount Marv since we tried to keep him). It does seem strange that the budget is cut despite the potential for higher gates and the fact the prices have went up. Maybe the budget has been cut to pay for the loan, I don't know, but it's had me wondering. To take away from my negativity a bit, I'm glad Darren Smith has been brought in. He's the only one from the three who's genuinely impressed me when I've seen him play. I'm glad McGlynn has seen that the wide-left berth needs filled and brought him in. He can also play LB, which is handy if Ellis happens to get injured, or is required to play in the middle. Edited to add: Look again at what we've lost: 4 strikers and 3 defenders. What have we got in? 3 wingers, one of whom will be played upfront. We're desperately short upfront and we need to get a defender in too.
  17. We averaged somewhere around 2200, IIRC. If we factor in the larger crowds for games against Dunfermline, Dundee etc, I'd expect this figure to rise slightly next year, maybe in the region of 2500-2700. That said, I do expect our home support to remain at around 1500ish for quite a few of the games, particularly if we're struggling pretty badly. The seasons average doesn't really paint the true picture, as the large crowds for derbys etc bump the figure up significantly. It's good we've managed to get the loan in order, though. It's something we can most certainly do without.
  18. McGlynn seems to like players who can play more than one position, so you never know. It'd be good knowing we have cover there if Wilson gets injured. I'd say our defence is sound enough. Ellis may struggle a bit, but I'm confident Campbell and Wilson will cope.
  19. The only way I could really go about it is on how players coped with the level last year. I'd suggest those who shone are good enough, those who were mediocre or poor aren't. Obviously it doesn't always work like that though. At any rate, there isn't anything that can be done now, as you say.
  20. I see what you're saying about Sloan, but I'd argue that was at a lower level, thus less of a risk. We were signing a player released from the same level, not one whom was released at a lower level. I've been far than impressed with McGlynn so far, but we'll have to wait until the season starts to see if it's justified or not. I'm not the manager after all. To me, it just seems like we've signed Second Division players. It's really hard for me to be optimistic when I consider that. I appreciate we have budget constraints, but with the prices going up and the potential for higher crowds, it does rankle a bit that our budget appears to have decreased somewhat.
  21. I wouldn't class the likes of Dougie Hill or Pelosi as adequate, tbh. Pelosi is pretty good going forward, but I remember him as being pretty poor defensively. Since McGlynn seems to have decided that we'll be playing with wingers (OMGZ etc), we won't be as reliant on our full backs going forward. This is a bit of a shame for Wilson, as I don't think he plays as well when he's not given license to go go forward as often. I think he poses more of a threat than Williamson does too, but never mind. Dougie Hill was released by Alloa, that signing wouldn't fill me with confidence. I've no idea about this Grant Murray chap, although if he's got a good amount of experience in division one, he'd probably be the one I'd sign. I had my suspicions Marv was holding out for a better move all along and sadly I was right. I didn't think he'd sign for us, but I'm disappointed regardless.
