  1. By this point in the timeline he's not had - and surely been known not to have been using - the Esteem for more than six years.
  2. It's still in the canyon where he and Mike pushed it off the road last series, as far as I can see. Though who knows why they saw fit to call back to that just now,
  3. Great episode, one of the very best. I liked the Kim / Jesse cameo, though I'm going to say it would have been loads more effective if we'd not had the Walt and Jesse one last week. (And if we hadn't known it was coming.)
  4. Another curveball. In three episodes they've given us apparent resolutions to three of the outstanding storylines. Fascinated to see what they do from here.
  5. Rhea Seehorn also said it was the scene with Lalo last week. 'Better Call Saul' Star Rhea Seehorn on Jimmy & Kim's 'Alarming' Fight - Rolling Stone

I had to cut the weekend short unfortunately, but thoroughly enjoyed it while I was there despite a few organisational hiccups. Excellent sets from Richard Dawson & Circle, Porridge Radio, Warmduscher, and various other stuff.
  7. This is an excellent point, which I had missed.
  8. Loving this, best thing on telly, and ultimately probably better than Breaking Bad. I'm gonna say I thought that mid-season cliffhanger felt a bit forced though and didn't really make sense.
  9. They're interesting and I very much like and respect what they're doing - the microtonal albums, especially. But I find the actual results quite patchy. The new album is a case in point - I absolutely love that 18 minute opening track, and have listened to it loads, but after that there wasn't a lot that grabbed me. I should give it another go, probably. Lots of great music coming out of Aus these days, yeah.
  10. Congrats, Bonnyrigg. This does mean, though, that for the first time in quite some years I have not been to every current SPFL ground. Not sure right now whether to rectify this at the first opportunity or wait for it to happen organically.
  11. I had a listen to AF's new one. It's okay. I don't think anyone is going to claim it as their best work but I still at least respect what they're doing - they're not at the stage of phoning it in or anything.
  12. Hurray for the Riff Raff and Grace Cummings were the two albums I just recommended to someone in an email. But the best two singles of the year have come out this week from Black Midi and Stella Donnelly. Looking forward to the latter's album and tour(s) especially - I'm a huge Stella Donnelly stan.
  13. I was just coming to post that. Love it. Song of the year so far. (Though Stella Donnelly has a new one coming tomorrow, so y'know.)
  14. Well no of course not. And you'll never know now because you never gave it time to find out.
  15. I'd go with two decades. I know some would be harsher and say two and a half, but I liked The Boy With ... and Fold Your Hands Child. Thought I'd give the new one a go since I have the chance to see them at Doune in July. First track was at least listenable if unexciting, but it went quickly downhill from there.

They are having a whole bunch of fun this week.

I'm gonna say at smaller venues, I don't understand how they're making some gig tickets so cheap. Wet Leg at the Mash House last week was a tenner. Next gig is Illuminati Hotties - £8 (plus a booking fee). The Hug & Pint holds about a hundred. They're over from the US touring for a few weeks and have to fund band and crew and all their expenses out of that, and I know they'll hope to top it up a bit with merch sales and the venue will be making their money from drink, but I still struggle to see how the economics of it work. And f**k knows what happens if anyone in that touring party gets covid.
  18. I think they're still at the stage of being a bit bemused by the whole thing.

    Yeah that was good fun.
  20. For once, I don't agree with ATM here. I thought those statements were very far from fine - they seemed half-hearted, insincere, showed no recognition whatever of the issues and seemed designed to pay lips service and do the minimum possible to try and get people back on side without having to face any actual consequences. They angered me, if anything, more than the initial f**k-up (which might, in the first instance, have been recoverable). All Sim has done now is make all that explicit. Hopefully that will at least open the eyes of some who'd been making excuses for him hitherto - but I don't really see that the previous strategy of just keeping their heads down and hope it would go away was any better.
  21. Not having a pop here because all circumstances are different, and there are specific reasons why different things happened at Raith from other clubs who have been in financial trouble in the intervening years. But we didn't go through admin and write off debt so in effect we are indeed still paying it off indirectly - and others will know more than me here so feel free to step in but as far as I know we're still paying interest only and are no closer to buying the ground back. (Edit: though Sim now owns both anyway.) That's not any kind of excuse for what's going on now or for any inaction, but it is true that it nonetheless remains a not insignificant part of the constraints on the club. (Otherwise you are making mostly good points here.)

I've got Wet Leg at the Mash House tomorrow. I know opinions vary on whether the substance matches the hype (probably not tbh, but that says more about the hype), but it feels a bit surreal to be going to see them in such a cosy setting given the way their popularity has exploded in the months since it booked and sold out - indeed they're already selling out much bigger venues for later in the year. So first up, credit it to them for not moving the gig. And then I hope both they and everyone else there enjoys and makes the most of the fact that it'll be the last chance to see them on a knee-high stage in a cavern off the Cowgate for the foreseeable future. (At least until they're on the way back down, which will be a whole different vibe.)
  23. Oh I was uncool enough to quite like the Ting Tings as well. Wet Leg are better though.
