  1. You reap what you sow. The Scottish league is designed to be utter garbage so Rangers and Celtic can win it every year. However the league has become so unbalanced that it's actually destroying Rangers and Celtic along with everyone else. I mean Rangers have about as much chance of winning anything as Aberdeen or Hearts and Celtic aren't even 3rd rate in European terms and will be excluded from the top table soon enough. Our other teams regularly lose to teams from powerhouse nations like Andorra, Luxembourg, Wales, and Iceland. Domestic cup shocks used to be, well, shocks. Now lower league and even non league teams beat our top level sides every year, on multiple occassions. The national U21's haven't qualified for a Finals since 1996. The full Scotland side hasn't won in 14 matches, stunk out the Euros and is unlikely to qualify for a World Cup any time soon. Oh, and they just called up a 40+ year old goalkeeper from an abject bottom of the league team because there was literally is no one else.to fill the spot. Our national team is getting close to 'bring your boots' territory. Even at amateur level the sport is collapsing with clubs disappearing every year and regional league systems becoming unsustainable. When are we actually going to fix this? Ever? Or to we just keeping going along so Celtic win trebles most years and then get embarrassed in Europe? How can anyone be happy that we have a low quality, uncompetitive league and get absolutely horsed at any level above domestic right across the board? Now our national game is defined by every low esteem loser thicko across the country connecting themselves to two massively successful footballing institutions but surely even the kind of total moron that climbs up a lamp post with a bottle of Buckie in celebration of winning another cup will figure out that winning what are essentially rigged competitions and then getting hosed by big guns is essentially empty and meaningless. The SPL was formed around the late 1990s and it was by far the worst thing that ever happened in Scottish football. Our national game has gone right down the toilet ever since. Greed and selfishness has brought us here. It's like the entirety of Scottish football lives under some kind of lotus eater delusion. How low to we have to go before we fix our game?
  2. Bottom of the league Como won 3-2 at Atalanta last week. I know cos I had bloody money on Atalanta. They seem to have gone backwards from last season and lost players to transfers and long term injuries.
  3. From BBC Liz Tray: Uefa have killed the CL. What is the value of watching teams win 5, 6 and 7-0? There is none. I enjoyed the match because it was my team, but apart from putting a few quid in the pockets of smaller teams, what is this FOR? The CL was about quality. It's been destroyed. That's gotta hurt if you're a Celtic fan. Cuffed, devalued the Champions League, smaller team. Ouch.
  4. Celtic fans can take solace in the fact that they won't qualify for the Champions League in the near future.
  5. Just saw a Celtic fan saying Motherwell fans will be gutted if we lose our 8-0 record win against Celtic. Come on Celtic!!! Sort yourself out at the back for these 45 minutes!!!!
  6. Glasgowcentric but I spend way too much time thinking about that big pizza sculpture that had the maniac facial expression and that wielded a large knife in quite an aggressive manner in the window of Dino's on Sauchiehall Street. It seem to represent the 1990's Glasgow zeitgeist in quite a disturbing way. The Begbie of pizzas.
  7. If you've ever ventured into the world of Afro-Funk you might have heard of Ferry Djimmy. However I just learned the other day that his real name was....
  8. "Completely different eras". Their playing careers overlapped. Also Kenny Dalglish's last match for Scotland was in 1986 and he only played about 9 times from 1984 onwards scoring 2 goals. It was more like guys such as Frank McGarvey (0 international goals), Frank McAvennie (1 international goal), David Speedie (0 international goals), Graeme Sharp (1 international goal), Brian McClair (2 internationals goals, both deep into his Scotland career) that kept Robertson out the team (and someone like Frank McDougall who didn't even get a cap). If you look for the obvious pattern it's there.
  9. That wasn't the point I was making. Simply contrasting two different journeys to a first Scotland cap. John Robertson played with Hearts and had to score about 150 league goals before he got a run out with Scotland. Contrast with Mark Burchill who scored half that in his entire career but of course played with Celtic and got capped within a year of his debut.
  10. John Robertson (Hearts edition) vs Mark Burchill.
  11. One of the best players to not be capped was Billy Stark.....
  12. That Lennon Miller couldn't get a single minute on the pitch is absolutely staggering. Seriously, what the f**k are we doing? I've said it before but if you have genuine talent, real genuine talent, it's as if youth set ups see that as somehow suspect and unwanted.
