  1. The last two nights some sort of giant flock of seagulls, and I'm talking about 50+, has turned up at 3am in the morning and flew round my house absolutely shrieking like f**k. OK, I should probably go to bed earlier but I'm on about 4 hours sleep in the last two days, I absolutely feel like shite. If it happens again tonight I'm going to have to hire 15+ Eagle Owls, a pile of industrial strength fireworks and a shotgun to get these fucking things away from my house. Honestly, the noise they make is horrific. Lucky I don't believe in augury or I'd be shitting myself right now instead of just being dog tired.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2R12zQSbfk I despair at the current state of rock n' roll but these guys have got it and it's one of the better albums I've heard this years. There should be a lot more werewolf howling in records.
  3. 'Manhattan' I've seen it numerous times before but I'm going through a love crisis! Everyone remembers the bridge scene but the best shot is the train going past Yankee Stadium, amazing cinematography.
  4. The current SKY advert featuring a poo faced Eric Cantona with the slogan 'Compromise Is Not An Option' is really getting on my nerves. First of all this 'football is really serious and important' bollocks has already gone far enough so get that ridiculous expression off your face Cantona. Secondly 'Compromise Is Not An Option'? What does THAT mean? Seems to me it encourages the baby psycology that far too many supposed adults have these days and completely ignores that fact that compromise is one of basic attributes required for civilization to take place! I readily accept I may be unique in this reading but I see it as pompous, infantile and socially retrogressive. I don't think I've ever seen any advert that actually managed to capture the appeal of football, probably because they are all devised by w****r ad executives, but this one really takes the biscuit.
  5. Spent most of last summer in Italy and I've had a few injuries lately (fractured heel, pulled tendon) but I'm hoping to make my come back (11 months since I made a summit) this week some time. Haven't decided between Beinn Dorain/Beinn an' Dothaidh or Beinn Chaorach/Cam Creag. Two munros with no walk in or two corbetts with a longer walk in, hmmmm? Alternatively I could try Am Bodach/Meall Dearg in Glen Coe but maybe I need to get my hill fitness up a bit before I try them. Usually I end up doing the hardest option through some kind of maschocism.
  6. Women 'Women' Not that good, think Sonic Youth before they got good with a little bit of Butthole Surfers but with out the genuine surrealism.
  7. The Byrds - Nashville West (from The Byrds Live at Filmore). That Clarence White sure could play guitar.
  8. Yeah, I guess those ones being nearer the central belt would be. Certainly further North it seems to be mostly the Munros that get visitors rather than the Corbetts.
  9. I am interested in landscape photography so I used to go walking and hill climbing a lot but not really bother about touching the cairns and 'bagging' hills. I was more interested about getting good pictures than getting to the top. However recently I've got more interested in that sort of thing. I think I have about 14 Munros done now and maybe about the same number of Corbetts as well. I'll never do them all (no way am I going up the Inaccessible Pinnicle for example!) but I'd like to do as many as possible. Unfortunately I'm going to be out of the country for quite a bit of the summer so I can't see me adding too many more to the list for a while. I have Beinn Dubhcreag and Beinn Oss in my sights before I go though! On the Corbetts I swear I've never seen a single other person on a Corbett with the exception of The Cobbler!
