  1. I've been through the same mate, Student Support are the best folk to get in touch with.
  2. Both my parents have been offered redundancy because of the cuts.
  3. I hate it when you have a bit of dandruff on your shoulders and you go to a club with UV lights and you're lit up like a bloody Christmas Tree.
  4. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Carries On Uplifting mix of soul and indie, great band
  5. Walked round all day with a massive sticker on the back of my new jeans and just realised when I got in.
  6. Small World - Roddy Frame. Theme tune to the British TV series "Early Doors", can't beat it

  8. Tony Benn: More Time for Politics - Diaries 2001-2007 At first I though reading someone's diary would be excruciatingly tedious but I really enjoyed this book. Even if you aren't of Benn's political persuasion you'll still enjoy reading about the big events of the past decade through the eyes of someone who has spent a lifetime in politics. I never realised how involved he was in politics after he left office, he talks about everything from his meeting with Saddam Hussein to his friendship with Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness. Reading a diary shows the human side of politicians. Would recommend it to anyone interested in an analysis of the world post 9/11 by someone who believes that it is still possible to retain the basic ideals of democracy and peace in Britain and the world.
  9. Driving into Cumbernauld Bus Station is like temporarily entering a street scene in Blade Runner.
  10. Immigration should be encouraged. Scottish nationalism is embarassing, most English people don't really care whether Scotland is independent or not. The minimum wage should be increased and public sector wages should be increased according to inflation. The House of Lords and the Monarchy should be abolished.
  11. Have got to disagree, i thought it was one of the worst films I've ever seen!
  12. I got the paper towel soaked in water all the time as well, teachers seemed to think it solved all ailments.
  13. "Last night I was playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died." Steven Wright - genius!
  14. Love is like a water park. At first you're enthusiastic about riding the fast, dangerous ones but after waiting in line behind a bunch of arseholes everyone just ends up with the fatties in the lazy river.
  15. Micmacs (2010) - Jean Pierre Jeunet - 9/10 Brilliant quirky French film in the same eccentric style as Amelie. Basically about a guy who gets shot and discovers the name of the arms company that made the bullet. Along with a band of homeless and off the wall comrades, he tries to bring down the company and unveil their evil plans. Fantastic film, dead funny and also has a strong anti-arms trade message. It's available on Virgin Media Movies if anyone has Virgin.
  16. In the pub last night a couple of guys who were just back from the war started giving an Asian guy hassle about how he should be thanking them for defending his country and fighting for his freedom (the guy isn't from Iraq or Afghanistan and he was born here) Made me embarrassed to be British man.
  17. Immigrants: Your country needs them - Phillipe Legrain Really one of the best written and best researched common interest books I've ever read. Provides the perfect riposte to the current trend of right wing jingoism in British politics. Would highly recommend it.
  18. When you're trying to get a bus which is at a bus-stop on the other side of a road which you can't cross because of traffic and you see it slowly pull away like in slow motion, FFFFUUUUUUU!
  19. Saw Billy Bragg live acoustic at his documentary showing at the GFT. Well good man, the guy's a legend!
  20. Absolute belter of a choon, the radio edit doesn't do it justice.
  21. The way people phone my mobile at the most annoying times. Today I dropped my shopping down the stairs of the bus and just as I was sprawled out trying to catch everything my phone goes, was basically like a massive Plonker alert.
  22. Just saw an old junkie guy shout dogs abuse at a young Romany girl begging outside Central Station in Glasgow about how she should "get a job or go back home", then saw the orange marches - really made me feel sick inside.
  23. Nick Clegg smiling as Osbourne announces the budget. What a sell-out cnut.
