  1. Wow...on paper yesterday's 1-1 draw away to Edinburgh University could be considered an even bigger shock than last weeks 5-0 humbling by ES. I wasn't at the game and don't know if the score reflected our performance but it's not a result you'd expect from a team hoping to compete for the league title. For anyone who backed us to retain our title I wouldn't go spending the money just yet. On a cheerier note, it's good to see our U-18 development squad get back to winning ways with a 4-1 over Celtic BC. Scorers were McBrearty (2), Beattie and Devlin.

  4. Didn't realise the OF were playing today but I know a few guys who were away due to it being the September weekend. As to the match....OOFT!! Well beaten on the day. ES won the midfield battle hands down and even before young Anderson took a sore one he hadn't made any impact. Bringing on the more experienced McBride didn't change anything in that area. Overall I was really impressed with Grant and Greene (4 & 5?). They looked a wee bit shaky at first but as the game went on they stuck to their task brilliantly. They gave Campbell very little and whenever we got around the outside it was more often than not one of those two making a block or clearing it. I only remember the away keeper making one save which was a very good one that kept the score at 2-0. Sludden's finish for the third was excellent and the pick of the bunch for me. Rodgers looked a bit heavier than last season but with the ball at his feet still has plenty of quality. It's hard to believe ES were 11th (16 points behind BSC) going into to today's game and they seemed to bring a fraction of the support that came through last time although I guess that's because K Park doesn't hold much attraction for them as an away ground? It was clear from their celebrations how much this meant to some of their players and will be interesting to see if this is the start of a long unbeaten run that can put them back in contention for the title. As for us we still seem no closer to replacing the goal threat Victoria gave us last season and look promising in the first two thirds of the pitch but much less so where it matters in the final one. Edinburgh Uni away next, hopefully we don't get schooled again.

  6. Excellent display from our U18 Dev squad who beat Riverside 10-1. Scorers below Beattie Docherty Neely (2) Hendry Mcguire (3) Mcbrearty (2)
  7. Lowland League result - 9/9/17 Gretna 2008 - 1 East Kilbride FC - 4 Goal scorers for Kilby were Adam Strachan, Gavin Millar, Sean Winter & Keiran Campbell.
  8. You've interpreted them perfectly .
  9. Fair play to Chris Milar? the other night, when stating his utter shock that Calum McGregor wasn't in the Scotland squad he at least had the balls to identify John McGinn as a player, that in his opinion, McGregor should have / could have replaced which is something pundits often fail to do. This isn't intended as a sleight on McGinn.
  10. Over a season it's often the ability to cope without your best players due to suspension or injury that dictates how well you do and getting their top scorer from last season back must be seen as a positive for them.
  11. A real statement of intent. BSC the team to catch this season.
  12. SPFL U-20 West Development League result - 5/9/17 East Kilbride FC - 1 Queen of the South - 2 Goal scorer for Kilby was Liam Craig
  13. SFA U-20 Youth Cup result - Round 1 East Kilbride FC - 4 Airdrieonians - 1 Goal scorers for Kilby were Jay McInally (3) and Liam Craig. EK will now travel to face Whitehill Welfare in Round 2.
  14. Two points dropped today for EK at home to Stirling Uni. We started very slowly (again) and for 10 - 15 mins we struggled to put two passes together by which time the visitors had taken the lead. From that point on EK dominated possession and drew level just before the half hour via Sean Winter (returning after injury) but despite being on the front foot and having several nice passages of play EK struggled to get beyond looking threatening. Thinking back the Stirling goalkeeper only had to make around 3 good saves of note although credit to Stirling for defending doggedly and fighting hard for the whole match. This was a strong starting lineup from EK and for me young Michael Anderson was outstanding but as with any level of football if you don't create and take chances you'll struggle to score goals and win games.
  15. Lowland League result - Saturday 26th August Gala Fairydean Rovers - 1 East Kilbride FC - 2 Goal scorers for Kilby were Michael Anderson & Adam Strachan (pen)
  16. Sportsound (rightly or wrongly) suggested St Mirren are due 30%?
  17. After getting into the starting lineup he's looking better every game IMO.

  19. Celtic loan kid hopes to catch Rodgers' eye by starring for East Kilbride Keiran Campbell has watched Calvin Miller and Kundai Benyu step up from development team - and wants to follow suit SPORT Campbell, far right and left speaking to Brendan Rodgers, wants to follow in the footsteps of Miller and Benyuily updates directly to your inbox Celtic youngster Keiran Campbell watched fellow development-squad players Calvin Miller and Kundai Benyu star for the Hoops first team at Kilmarnock last Saturday and now he hopes his loan move to East Kilbride can help him follow in their footsteps. The 17-year-old striker joined the Lowland League champions on a development loan last week— and his move comes a month after he played against Kilby in a 3-1 pre-season friendly win at K-Park. That day, Campbell lined up alongside Miller and Benyu, who stepped up to help Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Killie 2-0 at Rugby Park and keep the defending champions top of the Scottish Premiership. He aspires to make the same kind of breakthrough at Celtic Park and believes starring in the Lowland League can take him a step closer to his dream. Campbell told the EK News: “When Brendan Rodgers came to the club, he said he was going to give a lot of the younger players a chance. “You could see on Saturday that he is doing that. “I played in the same squad as Calvin and Benyu against East Kilbride and I thought Benyu would be in the same position as me this season — going out on loan to get some games but he’s done really well and caught the manager’s eye, that’s what I want to do at EK. I want to get some game time here and do my best to impress. Playing games here is better than sitting on the bench for Celtic. I was looking for a move to get some games under my belt and, after playing EK in pre-season and being impressed by them, it made sense to come here.” Campbell has joined the club until January, but benefits from full-time training with the Celtic development squad. He also remains available for selection for Tommy McIntyre’s under-20s, who play on Mondays or Tuesdays. Now in his third season with the Hoops after signing from Hamilton Accies he hopes to take the Lowland League by storm and, ahead of Saturday’s clash away to Gala Fairydean, he is targeting plenty of goals for Billy Stark’s side. He added: “My aim is to hit 20 goals before I go back to Celtic.
  20. I thought his results with EK might have seen him get a gig at a higher level. I wish him well.
  21. Indeed Sad to see Craig go as I liked his style, a very accomplished player with lovely close control who makes the game look quite easy. We had speculated from his lack of game time so far that maybe BS had other ideas. Understandable in any team that guys that aint playing wont be too happy especially if they were regulars before but alas that is football. As for a 6-0 victory being one of the worst performances in a long time Outplayed by a Championship side on their own pitch..? Calamity..!!
