  1. Haha, another IT crowd classic. I'm sure Reynholm would have had this all sorted by now
  2. Is there a link to try and listen to the court? I looked on the website but couldn't find anything. TIA
  3. Can't see there being anything other than this getting punted back to the SFA for a 'review'....i still can't see where the actual legal argument is for Hearts given how the SPFL used voting, set up committees (with HMFC as chair) for reconstruction, held more voting and only after all of that did AB decide to do a complete 180 on herself and no go with what the 'football community' deemed to be correct. If nothing else its a decent watch
  4. Seen that this morning, its made by a US company apparently and whilst companies in Europe/ EU can make it they are unable to due to the patents...given it's a global pandemic it would be good for the company to allow limited batches to be made in the EU to order for other countries but as money rules all i'm sure they'll resist any attempts. Seems bad that something so important can be monopolised by a single purchaser
  5. I seen the WHO announcement and it's hard to see how it wouldn't be accelerating through South America and other areas given some of the actions of some of the governments. I've not seen a big mention about Africa or how that has been impacted (or not) or if it's still a big issue in India or Pakistan (although i've not really looked) - is it still rising in those areas? In Scotland it seems like another decent day of figures, hopefully another day in the right direction!
  6. ....Trump must be getting ready to find a nice big fridge although i don't think his ego would let him hide away. From Twitter it looks like he's fire fighting on every front and as opposed to putting out the flames he's just throwing more petrol on them. Unbelievably it seems to work for a good bunch of his followers. I'm still amazed that the Republican party themselves are in effect just standing back, scared to act. Is there a real concern that as a party they could be doing serious long term damage in a lot of states?
  7. Maybe i've missed it but what's the current guidance about going to the Republic of Ireland? One of the wifes family has a second home there and would normally travel by car and use the Cairnryan to Belfast/ Larne ferry route before crossing into the Republic. They'd normally go late July but we can't see anywhere as to whether this is permitted or not... Going by what's been released/ advised so far the travelling will be allowed within the UK by then but just wondering what the rules are going from Northern to Southern Ireland. It would be obvious that they were from the UK due to the plates and theor not wanting folks to feel uncomfortable or have any issues
  8. Seems to be that way but it must be difficult to try and sign someone up if you need to say 'can you wait till August', if there is a club offering a slightly lower wage (for example) but can sign in the next month or so - that added security must be welcome for some.
  9. If the season isn't scheduled to start until mid-October then i doubt our pre-season will start until mid-late August at the earliest. Given the club may have to pay for folks it signs (unless they agree to a delayed contract start) then i don't see us announcing anyone soon
  10. We're the same, got a presentation this morning to share with the kids about maybe having to go back in a bubble and only a few days a week - might not be needed now which is good but i can't help feeling sorry for the head at the school who had been getting grief for no info about next term, sends out the pack and then see's this in the afternoon... Wife is still amazed they're doing it after being so set on blended starts...i thought a week or two blended before going back full time might have been on the cards. She's still convinced there will be a huge second surge which i'm struggling to understand given the current numbers and restrictions still in place (masks on transport, 2m etc.) and the fact that it's still 7 weeks till schools would go back anyway...
  11. Not sure, if they hand out bigger payments for parachute amounts as the 38 games didn't get finished where does that end? Do any teams in the play offs then ask for more money as they didn't get a chance to finish the season and get automatically promoted (Falkirk?) or teams who may have made the play offs but just missed out? Or teams in general as they didn't get all their gates? I think if there is a payment made it would be as a gesture of 'good will' and for a fraction of what they were after. This may have gone to far down the road now for it to finish with everyone pals again and the SPFL may feel that if their case is watertight then they'll let this one run...
  12. The appointment of Neilson as manager of Hearts doesn't surprise me, from memory I always thought he did ok there before. It's more the timing given the ongoing shambles with the SPFL - does this not confirm to external parties that Hearts 'accept' relegation? Even if Budge I actually just after compensation it seems a strange way to try and approach it.. That added to the invariably bad press about players wages, Stendel not taking money etc. but finding compensation for Neilson along with signing Craig Gordon (who won't be on peanuts) and it looks a bit strange. If Hearts can fire cash about like that it's no wonder they're wanting the millions from the SPFL... FWIW I reckon Neilson can do a good job for Hearts, wasn't that impressed when I seen Dundee Utd last season but to be fair that was only when they played our mob.
  13. Again, it's about the lack of resources clubs would have - the only reason English clubs are able to finish the Championship and the Premiership is due to the massive money available, facilities on offer and large squads of players...and being further forward in the lockdown process (if you believe that's a factor) The SFA could have offered dispensation but as has been seen in England you still need players to agree to it - isn't there at least one top flight Premier team that had @10 players out of contract - would they all risk playing? How are clubs meant to pay for all these players brought back from furlough with no income? ..and it's not what UEFA are doing. The competition ending has nothing to do with player registrations, all they've said for now is that the competition will be played to an end in August. Payers still have to agree with the clubs and the relevant FA that they are happy to extend their deals. Despite what you seem to believe I don't think everything is guided by Sky or Celtic. If the league started in September Sky would still get their games and Celtics CL start would be delayed anyway as UEFA can't even finish their comps till August so how would they know who and when teams would be able to play all over Europe?
  14. I would think the massive financial abilities of clubs with specific training facilities and private funding of regular testing probably helped. I don't think it's fair to say there was no will, but I believe there was definitely no way that things could return on an even playing field. As has been said far too many times, teams in Scotland could not afford to return to training and playing behind closed doors for an indefinite period - the ongoing costs for operating the teams let alone the testing would be too much with no income. No, they're not...they're nowhere near possible in Scotland due to the make up and financial fragilities of the clubs here. Trying to compare even L2 in England with the Championship here is futile. I don't understand the argument you have about whether the play offs were to go ahead or not...if they did does it not just crystallise final positions and weaken your position further? My team were in a unique situation in that had reconstruction have gone through then Falkirk would've come up and Partick stayed up and as such we would not really be impacted as badly by gates/ income as some but still would have a hit from 27 game season etc. Therefore I can see why the club voted for the proposal - it would have given us a chance of play offs/ promotion (aye right!) most seasons that the structure was in place if we were managed competently however other clubs seen a lot of negatives and as such said no - i'm just amazed that Hearts believe that clubs should fall over themselves to back them even if it was in their detriment to do so. I do back reconstruction - just when there's more than a fortnight to properly discuss it, all parties are involved in the proposal and talked to about it fully with all points raised and answered (even if not agreed on).
  15. Sorry for the long post... No, i'm not arguing the sporting merit after 30 games as the clubs voted on ending the season, therefore relegation, promotion and champions would be declared (unless the whole season was voided which would have cost the SPFL and clubs more). As loathed as I am to keep going back to Donald Findlay the other night, some teams win and others lose from the situation - it's not fair, but it's far from being 'unjust'. I have sympathy for Partick given they were a point behind with a game in hand but purely on positions at the time the leagues were called Hearts and Stranraer were, in my mind, at least far enough from the others that it was an 'easier' decision, again not maybe fair but.... I 've already said I feel for any play off team denied the opportunity to potentially be promoted (and also Falkirk given they were only a point behind Raith) but at the same time the three teams in a relegation play off spot were breathing a sigh of relief. It's not fair, but it's also not like there were only 8 games played of the season, there were 30 games passed when a decision had to be made and it was voted on by the members and the decision made - that's why I think it's not open to any more challenge. It's already been shown on this thread that Ann Budge had claimed that Hearts would do what was voted on by their peers and also shown that your own fans would have no issue if St Mirren had been in your shoes, 'karma' I think was the word used. There is no way that Hearts would be anywhere near their currant 'crusade' for justice if they were 11th, you'd have wanted this closed asap and before you ask, no - I don't think St Mirren would've went down the road that you guys are. I get the anger and annoyance of Hearts fans at what's happened but maybe Hearts fans should be looking closer to home as to why they were 12th after 30 games and in this position rather that lashing out at all the other member clubs and SPFL who voted on what's best in their eyes? Surely you can see why other teams fans have an issue with the approach Hearts are taking?
  16. Sorry, don't believe that's entirely true. Hearts made a reconstruction argument that benefited them (no issue with that) but they didn't fully pad out the idea and from what I've read haven't fully taken into consideration the impacts further down the leagues with regards future relegation or taken the time to call round the clubs to gain support for their idea and explain why they felt this was the right thing for all clubs to do - they've not bent over backwards but did make an attempt to try something. In terms of cutbacks the one thing I think (IMHO) that was correct was furloughing as opposed to wage deferrals. Given no-one knew how long this could take the decision to defer wages might be the worst thing clubs can have done unless players agree to the deferred amounts being spread over the remainder of their contracts. As you say, every club has had to make cutbacks and will need to next season as well, we won't see the full impact until things properly start up again and clubs have to get squads ready
  17. That's exactly what i'm saying. For most teams the Anderson money would just about keep them running till football starts (and even then probably not). If Cowden were to get to the play off final then that's a load of games at £5k a pop...and if they didn't then get up it's got an even bigger impact. For Championship teams it would mean taking players of furlough and paying them full wages for 4-6 weeks before a game to get them fit, re-signing/ signing players they maybe don't want just to play some game to 'maybe' get them into a better place or in the case of the relegation threatened team - stay exactly where they are. Any club taking part would then need to retain all players brought back on full salary until the league starts. So, Ayr do the play off and get to the final. Fork out on player wages, testing, signing up new players etc...then possibly lose and have to retain all that squad till mid-Oct....? It wasn't going to happen
  18. There's no way the play offs could've happened here given the costs for testing etc. needed to complete the fixtures. If Big Don F (QC) was right and it's @£5k a game per team then how could the L2 teams here, such as Cowden potentially fork out money for testing at this time never mind the players out of contract scenario (and also that most/all will be p/t never back to training etc)....play off's were never going to happen up here. I think the English L1 play offs are quite contentious as one team (Peterborough?) dropped out by the use of PPG and Wycombe (I think) have got in....bit of teeth grinding going on with that but nothing like up here with the 'standard' relegation places
  19. From the linky a few posts ago to todays papers it said that the Court action lodged is against the SPFL and also the three promoted teams...is that correct? I'd have expected a bit more from those teams if they were directly part of the action being taken?
  20. ....travelling blankets, polite applause and opera glasses for the South Stand it is then!
  21. Cheaper for me to buy the full price Adult season ticket and two U12s than do anything with the family discounts. £18 for u12s is very good
  22. ...is there somewhere to sit? What have the SPFL 7 days to respond on?
  23. Far too sensible. Edinburgh seem to be at the other end of the scale -some schools are 1 day a week and a 2nd day every third week....! Long time till August and I hope the schools here will be two days a week minimum for a week or two until they ramp up to full time - might actually help the kids get used to actually having to go to school again!
  24. I can't help but feel that by saying that she might not have help her case...
