  1. I can't believe that despite the headlines and 'noise' around the Tories that their lead continues to grow over Labour. Why anyone would vote for them is beyond me...I just don't get it
  2. I work with a guy who hates holidays and moans because his wife wants to get away somewhere nice. He's a bit of a control freak so hates it when he has to hand over stuff. Funnily enough all the work still gets done, usually with half the hassle!
  3. I genuinely would not be surprised to see FEB back at East End for a third go. He was rank when he came here on loan last season but I can't help but feeling he was used so badly when he did play, he had niggling injuries which couldn't have helped and his confidence was shot as well. He probably acted the big time Charlie as well but given the dressing room in general appears to have been a nightmare it's probably no surprise. If he did come back he'd have my support anyway, if not then so be it....but I reckon he'd fit in well with this team
  4. Trippier to Atletico Madrid for £20m....Spurs surely need another right back now as they can't just use Kyle Walker-Peters and Serge Aurier for the whole season?
  5. Still really enjoy The Football Ramble, been listening to their best off collection over the Summer. It's going daily in the new season so will be interesting to hear what they do. Not much detail as yet but I'm assuming the normal shows will continue but with their On the Continent, At the Match and Ramble Meets programmes or something similar for the other days? Andy Brassell and James Horncastle maybe doing some additional bits for them?
  6. i'm not convinced Spurs will go for an out and out striker to back up Kane. Given that they appear to be going heavy on midfield i'd assume they'll use Son and Moura as Kane back ups if he gets injured, even Ali could fill in. They could really do with some full backs though, maybe they could nick Tierney from under Arsenals noses...
  7. Normally I'd agree but given the prices getting battered about it ''almost' seems like a really good bit of business. Everytime I've seen of this guy on the box he's been amazing, really sought after and Levy and Spurs have done well to get him in now - I reckon if you give it three seasons and Spurs will likely sell on to Real or something for a fee above £100m. Spurs still want Lo Celso from Betis and the players wants the move but Levy is trying to get full whack for Erikson to Madrid first. Wouldn't be surprised to see Erikson move for @£60m plus a player coming the other way, Spurs then wrapping up Lo Celso and picking up Sessegnon from Fulham as well. They could do with a back up for Kane now that Llorente has been released... Daniel Levy must be trying to hide his wallet at the minute in case Pochetino finds it!
  8. Thought it was pretty good on the whole. Very early days but looks like it could be something that the presenters grow into. They seemed really eager and keen to impress, maybe that'll die down as it goes on. They did a good job on bigging up Ethiopia, looked amazing and even the Ethiopian Embassy were thankful to them on Twitter for their comments.
  9. Surprised by Williamson going. He's still 'young' enough to be offered a new deal and I feel with proper coaching he'll end up playing at a very decent level - i'm thinking he'll follow the same type of route as Byrne did. The board/ Crawford must have some plan in mind...i'm still not convinced by Stevie but time will tell...
  10. Still quite like TG and last nights actually felt like it was getting there...just as they'll change it all again! I've heard Rory Reid won't be on the new one (or very little) and I think that's a shame as I think he's been really good at the reviews this season. Chris Harris is a great driver but it looks like it'll take a bit of a departure next season as he'll be the only 'real' auto guy. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't but i'll give it a go and might be pleasantly surprised...
  11. I certainly hope so. I understand they want to keep things under wraps as long as possible but you'd think they'd want someone in to play in some of these games to try and gel the squad together. I've not made any of the games this pre-season but the one thing I am reading from all off them is that there is no 'set' team in place - I'd have hoped for a few games in a row with at least a good majority of the 1st team starting...
  12. Not sure on those kits tbh. Home one is ok but looks more St Mirren style stripes (if that makes sense?!), the away one I'm not sure about at all....I think I like it...
  13. So, folks think that Faiss is back from his jollies tomorrow whilst we have a new strip launch and the fixtures are released. Wonder if I'd get odds on Faissals signing being announced at 10am tomorrow as he'll be the one in the new strip... Probably never going to happen but I'm expecting a couple of signings to be announced when the pics go up for the new tops.
  14. I'm not particularly concerned about any player in particular leaving but given the amount that are moving (and to teams in the same league) I do wonder if there is a concern among the players that they needed to move to have a greater chance of getting promoted - it could all be money and length of contract etc. but I'd have expected at least one of them to sign on for next season. Never mind, there should be a nice wedge available for wages now as I'd imagine Aird, Clark and Morris were among the higher earners.
  15. On one trip not long after I got married we flew into Orlando International and took our hire car down the East Coast of Florida (Space Coast down to Miami). Stayed there for a few days and then drove down to Key West - if you get a chance I'd highly recommend doing that as the drive from Miami to Key West was absolutely amazing, the drive over the overseas highway was spectacular (the Dolphin sanctuary en-route was good as well) and Key West was brilliant. When we left Key West we drove back up past Miami, cut across the everglades stopping for an airboat ride and drove back up the West Coast - Naples, St Pete's, Tampa before staying back in Orlando for a few days at the end. Amazing holiday....
  16. I'm the same, heading out in May - can't wait. Only place I've been that I feel almost completely relaxed and in holiday 'mode' as soon as the plane touches down. Been far too many times for it to be reasonable but is there really anything wrong with that if you just like the place? Mrs keeps saying she's not going back but we're trying to make the most of getting there before both kids are in school and the price rockets for us to go. Got the usual 14 days for the price of 7 passes for Disney and might try to sneak to Universal on my own (boys are too young to really do anything there). No Space Centre this year either as we're trying to take it a bit easier - always end up coming back knackered :-) Anybody else heading out soon? What's your favourite places to go? Personally love a half day at Typhoon Lagoon and also Holywood Studios for the Tower and the Rock and Roller Coaster and for eating I don't think you can better Bahama Breeze..
  17. Seen a tweet from Edinburgh Airport saying they're shutting down at 6 this evening to get ready for tomorrow as they're expecting more issues. Seems weird that they're shutting it down again (didn't even know it had re-opened!)
  18. I used to think that as well but they're either well behind whats been posted or they're just taking a punt. What makes it worse is the wife's boss looks at the beeb from the other side of the country and decides it's ok for the wife to drive in to work....not likely, the wife can't even drive in normal conditions!
  19. Below is what the Met Office reckons is for Edinburgh between noon and midnight, why would this be an amber warning and not the red waning we had yesterday? Looks like the same forecast they had? It's also completely different from the Beeb radar thingy I seen that showed no snow for Edinburgh...
  20. Down near Porty, there's a few inches of snow. I meant the sky was nice and clear as others had said there was bad weather ongoing. Thinking of buying the boys a sledge but not sure where to head that's nearby - bit too far away from Arthurs Seat for the wee men.
  21. Nice and clear in Edinburgh at the mo....bit of a battering overnight judging by the garden but hearing about Fife and the West it does look like it was a lucky escape from it being wore. Every website I read for an idea of today contradicts each other. Beeb is ok till later and 'maybe' heavy snow, others are constant but light snow...I've seen folk say metcheck is the most accurate, any others folk would recommend? I'm not planning on going to work or anything daft like that, just want to have a wander at some point :-)
  22. Hearing others have Thundersnow and non-stop blizzards it looks like Edinburgh might have got off lightly so far. Other than some really heavy snow it's not been too bad. Roads are dead (although I think the bypass was it's usual shambles but that's a given). Should be interesting to see what happens overnight but at this minute i'd reckon hee-haw in the City, seems to be going around and hitting everywhere else
  23. Wonder how long it'll take before Lothian Buses gets shut down for the day? I know I'm making a huge assumption here but they (the met office) must be pretty certain it'll be extreme if they've moved to panic stations.....sorry, a red warning
  24. So, is it actually supposed to get worse this afternoon or are folks getting sent home, fixtures cancelled etc. just as a 'precaution'?
  25. Absolutely this! Look like nothing more than an inch or so over most of Edinburgh (if that) - given the timing of when we were told it must be expected during the school day and they wanted to ensure folks wouldn't have to get called to pick up their little angels...
