Walking Down The Halbeath Road
EdinburghPar1975 replied to Parscelona's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
If Dargo signs i cant see him being more than a bench player, which is the reason Buchanan wanted to leave. Getting someone in who knows they'll not be first choice must be pretty hard and as much as i don't think Dargo would be a number one target he's probably a decent squad player for the first. Thankfully it looks as if Jordan has signed and if fit should be a good signing. I'm still worried that we need central defenders though and given Murrays knee problems i'm not sure he's the answer...especially if Potter is the back up. Priority must be for two central defenders. If that happens then i think we've a decent team. In terms of the season i'd imagine we'll start of slow and then build up a bit of steam. Think it may be too much this year but the young players brought in seem to be a good set of players and hopefully that will bode well for the future. -
Sevco will get their membership, i just can't see the SFA etc not letting it happen. They've left it so late that to try and get another team in would cause chaos again. My concern is that the SPL and SFA will 'deal' with Sevco and allow them not to face sanctions on second contracts, any punishment being levied against RFC (IA).

I would imagine Yorkston will be looking for the SPL to present the factors that led to their decision. Most Pars fans I have spoken to would prefer the first but understand the clubs stance that they may take action if they feel the decision raised was questionable. Given how quiet Yorkston usually is can we all expect some nice quiet times ahead?? FWIW I think that the Pars should ask for clarity on how the decision was reached, and if there's nothing significantly dodgy (i.e the decision based purely on the £ Dundee would bring in compared to the Pars) then just move on...as other have said games against Falkirk and Raith will help the blow and Jeffries can maybe get on with building a team!

I've no idea who should go into the SPL in place of Sevco. Neither Dundee or Dunfermline really deserve to be there and despite what people say i don't believe there's any precedant to follow. I don't think a play off game would be any good either as neither side has been able to place players in their squad, the Pars are quite a few players of having a competative team (no change from last year!). Given the financial impact to all the teams then it would make sense if Dundee went up, this would help due to their larger travelling support and the derbys they would give St Johnstone and Dundee Utd...but my own team would then suffer... No matter what happens, as long as Sevco arent in the SPL then all fans need to go and support their team. Clubs need to get as many people in as possible and we should be doing as much as we can to make it happen. Schemes like Aberdeens to fill Pittodrie are the way to go, fill the ground and wipe out any £ defecit early, other teams may need a couple of games to clear any shortfall but fan power can again prevent 'armageddon' from taking place. I dont normally go to away games due to finance but given the goings on i'll be trying to get to a couple this year....every little helps!

Given that the SFA still have to sanction the SFL3 entry by means of providing the membership then I would think they can still block it. Greens comments about only allowing SFL membership if SFL1 are a disgrace and Regan should be roundly kicked in the nuts at 15 minute intervals. The fact that Green has 'leaked' this information is telling, whoever thought they would win that vote is truely deluded.

If the SFL vote them to division 3 and I know my club have backed it then theres little more that I can ask of them. However, if the vote is overturned and Sevco are put into SFL1 I won't attend the games involving Sevco and i'll seriously consider not attending at all (apart from the games against Raith...respect to Turnbull and all that!). The club have my season ticket money so they won't miss out. If, and its a big if, Sevco are pumped into the SPL by some dodgy means then i'll continue to support the Pars in the SFL but will not attend another SPL game when (and if) we get back up..I refuse to pay moeny for a product thats so fundamentally flawed.

Surely the SFL board will not over-rule the clubs if the vote is something like 22-6 in favour of SFL3. I can understand them being involved if the vote was really close but with such a majority then it would be suicidal to over-rule. The proposals offer nothing to SFL2 or 3 teams and as such I cant see why they would go with them, the settlement money would be paid as legally the spl would have to...are Brechin really saying they fancy their chances for the SPL? Fair enough if they do but they'd probably find their path blocked by some mad regulation on hedges or something!

Why are teams scared of losing the £60k? Surely if Sevco were in SFL 3 these clubs would get a few paydays, then SFL2 etc. The only clubs that would miss out would be those going the opposite way at the end of the season? Given the amount of public 'No's' so far by the clubs there's only the need for a couple more to ensure that the SFA/ SFL board need to completely bend over to get them in SLF1...and that would kill the lower leagues - not Sevco in SFL3. The only thing I can try and get my head round is that various parties have been told that Sevco would go straight back into admin if in SFL3 due to the Ibrox running costs....but again that shouldn't be a factor to anyone else.
