  1. What? You mean like voting on resolutions and accepting their outcome even if it's not the way that you voted and the chair of your club saying they would go with the 'football community' if that's what people wanted.....? Yep, some people do seem to have an issue with that...
  2. If this does end up in court (which I have my doubts about) then, as has been said the league can look to act on bringing the league into disrepute. By way of a genuine question, were that the route taken what would be more damaging to Hearts (or Partick)? A fine or points deduction? With a shortened season in the Championship then a 8 or ten point deduction could be damaging to any promotion prospects. I'm not really surprised that the Pars voted for reconstruction as from the teams perspective it would be at the least a better chance of play offs at the least over the next few seasons and also allows them to back up a neighbour in Kelty Hearts getting into the league. The response from the Big Bad Ross seems fair - we backed it, thought it would get more traction but didn't so that's that....
  3. Probably more along the lines of 'we'll add Particks name to the legal action at no cost'....and then at a later date telling them that should the action fail then they would, of course, be splitting the costs... I'm still unclear as to the route Hearts are looking to take given the decisions were all made by using the rules for the member association that they are a part of and they partook in. Additionally the chair of the club had publicly stated that they would abide by the decision (if that's what the loving football community thought was best)….
  4. …..anyone else think Hearts are saying they'll cover Partick's costs? A joint action always looks better...I await a similar statement from Stranraer...
  5. German prosecutors have now told Madeline's parents that they have evidence she is dead but can't tell them what it is in case they jeopardise their case...seems a bit harsh to have done it by a letter if the reports are to be believed...
  6. The 'it's not fair' argument was ridiculous. How many times have you been at or watched a game and seen a team dominate the match, only to see the less fancied team bounce back like Rocky Balboa to land a 25 yarder into the top corner and run away with the points (I accept this may be because i'm a Pars fan that this may be a more common sight than for others! )...should any game that finishes like that be appealed because it wasn't fair...we had 20 shots to their 1? No wonder Donald Findlay was able to swat it away...I hope Hearts legal team have a better argument than that. As was said by the QC yesterday, no - it wasn't fair but it was the best solution to an unforeseen situation that needed finalising...there were going to be some winners and some losers but that happens everywhere at this time. I do feel sorry for the relegated teams and those missing out on a play off but i'm struggling to see a sensible solution that could've been put in place for all at short notice.
  7. The one thing I was hoping was going to be said was to point out to Levein that he had actually done more to relegate Hearts than either the SPFL board or the clubs voting against reconstruction. If he had an ounce of competency in his spell as manager, and with the budget at his disposal, then Hearts would've been nowhere near the bottom of the table. Levein can bang on about things being unfair but lets be completely honest - if Hearts had beaten St Mirren in the last pre-lockdown game this whole situation wouldn't be happening. There would be no look into reconstruction, no threats against the league and no attempts to try and be the saviours of all that is fair and good....Hearts would've let St Mirren, Hamilton or whoever fall and there is no way they'd have went for reconstruction if they were 11th...
  8. As thankful as I would be for some good news on the vaccine front I would really like to hear some positive news on a greater understanding of the treatments that could be used to help those who do get infected and have a serious case that involves ICU.
  9. ....and not to be lost in there...27 game Championship as well...wonder if there will be more arguments over the game splits....
  10. Not sure how true this is but my wife is just off a work call and it was said the Edinburgh Council have announced that they are looking at kids only being in school one day a week when they go back in August, I certainly hope that will ramp up very quickly if it is the case. Not read it from our school yet, although their comms have been awful in general. They seem to be happy to send out a learning grid each week, tell you to do what you want from it and let them know if there's a problem....no contact from the teachers to the pupils other than an online chat room a few minutes a day unless they're teaching at the essential workers hub then they get no contact at all that day. That's for the 9 year old, my P2 son hasn't heard a peep from his teacher at all since they were sent to wfh other than a grid popped on to the school website...
  11. Agreed, but 3 up from a 10 team league would be lunacy It doesn't really matter what the Championship does though does it? If the top table vote it down then the rest of the leagues votes don't count for much.
  12. My wife's work have 55% of the office at home and unable to work and they can't get them back in any time soon...and they're a Scottish Govt department. The 'expectation' is that my wife and her colleagues will just need to pick up the work that can't be done by others, while we also home teaching our kids. Whilst preaching flexibility they are anything but when it comes to workload. In terms of the laptop from work then in my case your assumption is wrong (and the resources are there)...my work have been excellent in flexibility but they are not providing any hardware to help out despite it being a requirement - if you had your own laptop/ phone etc. then their expectation is that you can just use that. We're now having to really fight to get them to provide us with stuff we can use as we've been told we're now at home until 'at least' January 2021 and likely until March....i was fine using my own stuff when it was a few weeks/ a month or two but not based on that timeline...
  13. I understand that they need to be careful with what they say but they seem to be focused on getting work back quickly...but the schools 'appear' to be an afterthought when surely getting them back as normal as possible in August will help workplaces open up? There is a long time till August in terms of how things will move (even taking just the last few weeks into account) and by then it's conceivable that Scotland could have very few weekly deaths/ new infections given the drop in numbers to date and also that we could have less then 2m restrictions for distancing...i'd be hugely surprised if we were still 'blending' at school by Oct half term...
  14. Had an email from the school over the weekend saying my kids will be heading back a week earlier (which we knew) but also that they 'blending' the return to school in that you'll either be in Monday/ Tuesday or Wednesday/ Thursday and off Friday (teachers using it for planning). What made no sense was that they are looking to return using only 33% capacity so they can observe social distancing...so if 33% go in Mon/ Tues and 33% Wed/ Thu....what happens to the others? Additionally the email advised that John Swinney had told them that this solution could be in place for the whole school year...really? So the government are looking at getting the country moving and back to 'normal'...how is that going to happen if folks with kids can only work two days a week (if they can't wfh)? I'm also aware that we've been able to home school 'reasonably' (and we're lucky as we have the ability to download and access a lot f the info) but the kids don't have the ability to do a lot of the coding, STEM and some of the other work assigned as it's all online and we need the laptops we have to do our work..it's just not sustainable to have them taught like that for a significant further period of time, they need a teacher with lessons - not always pointed to a website or online resource. They need full time teaching and they need the social interaction with their schoolfriends.
  15. I read the article where Leslie Deans has said the Belgium and France have had relegation stopped, but isn't the issue there that the leagues did that at an executive level and not via a vote of clubs? I thought i'd seen that was the case but very well may have completely mis-read the story. Either way I cant see how they have a case given the clubs voted to end the league and will likely vote against reconstruction at this stage. As has been said before, if it's for the good of the game then bring it back for discussion when the new season starts to try and get agreement for 2021/22 (and hold a general review of the SPFL governance process as well)...
  16. Maybe i'm missing something, but I still cannot see how 11 top flight teams will vote 'yes' for the proposal - I could see a few abstentions which would scupper this straight off. As was said earlier by one of the chairman it's a bit pointless the Championship, L1 and L2 teams even thinking about this until they know if the Premiership will actually go for it given the % of the teams there that need to vote for the change. We'll know by Monday one way or another as unless there is a decent certainty that the proposal would pass I don't think we'd even see the EGM being held..
  17. From a Pars perspective I can also see the benefits (even next season with Falkirk and Raith along with us in the Championship) but I think the drop in Prize monies for the Aberdeen and Celtic may scupper it. Permanent is a far better proposal all round though...
  18. A permanent 14 team top flight requiring 11 of the 12 Premiership teams to agree to it and accept reducing prize money? ….not going to happen
  19. Would be a shame to see Nisbet go but as has been said a good offer would be welcomed right now (just make sure there's a good sell on clause!) In terms of central defence I liked what I seen of Tom Lang, shame he kept getting knocks. I'd like to see him get a good run in the middle and maybe with Ashcroft going it could be what helps him to achieve that (as long as he can stay injury free!)
  20. Because whilst I don't mind working from home some of the time, working solely from home on an extended basis makes my work significantly more difficult. Even if they could get to the stage where we were rotated with other workers to allow us to be in for two days and home for three it would be a great help. It's a personal thing, I just like being in the office more than at home if i'm 'working' and I get that others will be the opposite. ….could also be that being stuck here with the kids, wife and father in law has shown what a few hours at work can do for you though
  21. My work have basically said that no matter the government guidance we'll not be back in the office this year (and possibly for some time into next year). I understand they have a responsibility to the folks that work there and that there are a few older buildings that could be difficult to put social distancing in place but at the minute they seem to have no wish to even take into account that if infections and deaths are at close to zero for say August/ September then they could have folks back... As has been said it may be that the football has crowds back in by November or so and gatherings would therefore be permitted...so why not allow people back into the office? Makes no sense to me
  22. No trolling intended at all but would Somerset Park be allowed to hold top level league games? I've not been in years but i'd have thought they may have to limit attendance if there was any chance at all of even going up via a play off? Also, following the vote to end the season have Hearts 'resigned' their share at the top table and been accepted into the Championship yet? If it has happened, wouldn't Hearts currently be in one of the lower leagues that needed to sort themselves out? If so then go for the 14 with Hearts staying down and ICT and Dundee coming up...Hearts can slum it with the rest of us and work out what we should do...
  23. 'It has since been clarified that Budge's focus is on a 14-team top tier, with the lower league clubs agreeing on whatever configuration suits them.' It's this bit that gets me...so the proposal was for the good of all teams but it's now clarified that what she really meant was 14 team top league (with Hearts obviously) and the rest can feck off and sort themselves out...aye ok then Anne
  24. Sorry, I just don't agree that this is an injustice. It's a massively unfortunate way to have to end the season and as I said I have sympathy for any club impacted whether that be by relegation or promotion denied by a play off - i'd hate it if it was my team impacted in such a direct way - but it was, in my mind, the only way to finish the leagues. I'm actually all for reconstruction but it should be as part of an overall review of what is needed going forward and not for what would seem way to assist one of the larger teams in the country. As for the feedback on P&B, Twitter etc. I think that's generally to be expected given the forums that they are. I would say that the majority of the pushback of this type is either due to rivalry, 'banter' or in a number of cases due to some Hearts fans showing a level of arrogance as to it being almost a 'right' to stay up and teams should be falling over themselves to help them. I have no beef with Hearts (or any other team) but things teams need to be able to start looking at next season and how that'll work pretty quickly to help clubs survive. FWIW I think that they should be looking at getting talks on reconstruction, SPFL governance review etc. on the table for when the teams are playing again with crowds in the grounds and aim to have something in place for season 21/22...
  25. I might have misread (and apologies if I have), but haven't Rangers deferred salaries as opposed to using furlough? I thought i'd read that all salaries would need paid up to date before going back to training/ playing. Given the wedge that some of those guys would be on I wouldn't imagine the board at Ibrox would be too keen on going anywhere near a pitch for a few months yet....regardless of the stance taken in the media
