  1. Watched the first part of the Hotel Cecil thing and felt it was okay but initially thought that it was going to be just the one episode so I could just about be bothered with it. About twenty minutes left I realised it wasn’t about done and discovered it was spread across four chapters. Then, just before the end of episode one, they introduced a guy who’s little job descriptor read - ‘internet sleuth’. I will not be returning to find out what happened. If anyone wants a decent 40 minute true crime film then ‘Long Shot’ is an interesting story (and unlike Hotel Cecil is over in one go).
  2. Then they wheeled out Devi who instantly labelled him a spoiled toddler. She then went on to declare a couple of “I told you so” moments and that her job is to tell people things they don’t like. I preferred the Tory.
  3. I’m still clinging on to the theory that Governments are being overly cautious on purpose, simply because if they were pushing an agenda of positivity and optimism then people might start to behave very differently. At least, that’s what keeps me relatively sane. I spent months being incredibly pessimistic about the future of this and I’m trying to focus more on the declining figures, vaccine rollout, the positive news and the hope that things will be better enough in a couple of months for some genuine positive planning and the real moving forward of some freedom to do the things we all want to do.
  4. I always check in with the wee Guardian graphic each day. Things definitely heading in the right direction.
  5. Certainly for many, Jerry Kerr sits alongside Jim McLean in terms of impact.
  6. Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 I thought the first Wonder Woman was very decent, but I didn’t care much for Suicide Squad. For a complete switcharoonie I thought Wonder Woman 1984 was a boring mess but I found Birds of Prey brilliant fun. Still, by and large the DC movies continue to be pretty rubbish in comparison to Marvel.
  7. Recently downloaded Genuine Impact and find it a decent app for researching and comparing stocks. There is the option of a paid subscription but you also get a free trial to begin with.
  8. He’s effectively the work experience boy and is doing a bit of paid work as part of a team. As Steve Grieve, the head of the department at the club said yesterday, we have two Scottish guys and a young American also helping. The young guy reached out to Grieve, they had a discussion and he now does a bit of work for the club. Grieve worked in India for a while so maybe wanted to give someone from there a chance at gaining a bit of experience.
  9. I’d definitely have a look at their YouTube channel, loads from their previous show and some live stuff too. Totally and utterly bonkers.
  10. I’ve actually watched it through twice now. Once on my own whilst figuring out if I liked it or not (which after a couple of episodes I really did) and then once forcing my wife to watch it. Her take was - it’s too weird for me but because they are Australian they are a lot less annoying than if they were American. Think they had two or three very strong episodes and one or two that were a bit patchier. A few of the individual sketches were brilliant. Suppose that’s the nature of a sketch show. Since then I’ve gone back to look at some of their older TV skits and live stuff. Some of them are excellent. I would say I’m very much a fan but totally understand why some people would think it’s the most awful thing they’ve ever seen. Think one reason I liked it was purely for the escapism element given how utterly shit things have been.
  11. I would argue that the January 2019 was needed. Okay some of the individual players were rubbish at the time and some turned out to be just ‘decent’ in the Championship (and have now been found out), but the club and the fans needed a January window like that to get the mood and optimism at the club back on track after Laszlo. It was Neilson + Ogren’s first window so they needed to be seen to make a difference and I do remember there being a significantly more optimistic mood amongst the support for the games after the window closed.
  12. I’m really struggling to be even remotely motivated at the moment. If we could actually go to games I’d at least have the ability to see people and have a bit of that matchday experience (which, regardless of the results always gives you a bit of a cathartic release). This whole sitting in the house watching terrible football on your own is fucking chronic.
  13. Announcement regarding loan agreements for Premiership clubs coming today. Seems to be - - 0% interest - Delayed payments for a year - 20 year repayment period - Up to £1.7 million (some have reported anything between £1.5 and £1.7) I would assume United (and others) will jump at this.
  14. We got Disney+ last March for the £50 one-off. It’s been worth every single penny. With having a three year old and us being both 90s kids (and massive Marvel fans) it’s been a superb purchase. This next addition will only add to that. It’s also been a saviour for Disney in terms of their stocks, given the loss of revenue in other areas. If you’ve got young kids and you haven’t watched Bluey yet, that’s probably our favourite for the wee one. It’s excellent.
  15. What I want to know/I’m concerned about is the longer term state of general investing as a result of this (and potentially future similar events). This is probably now a ‘thing’ isn’t it? Or is it just a flash in the pan social media thing? Basically, is this going f**k people, like me and others in here who are just trying to regularly put aside money into ‘safe’ low growth/dividend stocks? I also wonder how, legally, some brokers will be hit by this. I’ve been using Trading 212 for about a year now and have never had any issues but the chat in the last 24 hours has been incredibly volatile given their position (similar to Robinhood etc) to halt GameStop. Not that I was going to get in on the action (I’m all about long, long term growth) but it could have huge knock-on effects to online/app platforms possibly? I’m all for fucking about with some billionaires but I would like to think my retirement/family fund is okay!
  16. I’m bedding in for 13 more horrendous league games. Last night was the first game I switched off (slightly less dramatic than storming out of a stadium). Really struggling to engage with United at the moment and although I do like Mellon as a person and feel he is at least a bit more ‘genuine’ than some managers we’ve had, the truth is this season has been torture and he has made some horrendous decisions (coupled with us also having some awful players) I’m just hoping Hamilton and County are slightly more shit than we are in the remaining games. Roll on next season!
  17. Fair fucks, you bunch of b*****ds, that’s a strong set of signings in recent days. Im sure we will follow suit...
  18. He’s still trying to be a voice of ArabTrust but I think even they have distanced themselves from him.
  19. Just because I was looking at pictures of Tannadice in the snow earlier, here’s one of Dens (that I’m sure you will have seen before)...
