. "New daddy who will ultimately disappoint you" is very distasteful and negative about a manger who has already made a postive impact on the squad.
It was meant to be distasteful. There was no comment on Hopkin there, I hope he does well.

The funny thing is I have had the exact same relationship with every manager at Ayr (starting with the 2 Rabs), not much chit chat just civility i.e what you would hope for in a profesional setup.

There’s some nonsense being written on this thread. Calm down with the Kerr bashing, at best it is unedifying at worst you come across as desperate for a new daddy who will ultimately disappoint you.

Fair does. That is a decent win regardless of how poor Dundee were.

And you're one of the more positive people on here...
I’m not sure about that but thank you. I didn’t like when the owner said that staying up was the goal. Why sack Kerr then? And replace him with Hopkin? I get that Smith didn’t fancy Kerr (not his pick) but you then can’t say you will support your manager when you’ve just thrown one under the bus.1 -

Hope this isn't the future...
It's not like this was foreseeable or anything. I would love to be proved wrong but it is worrying when the new manager's interview is more convincing than the owner's.

It's normal with an injury of the type he has had that it takes as long back playing as he was out injured to get back to the previous level.
Fair enough. I was quite harsh.

Murdoch has been the biggest disappointment this season, a shadow of his former self. No quality just busy work.

At least they eventually seem to have got past the manager interviews only having sound in one ear if using earphones, that was the big killer for me for a while.
Good to hear (pardon the pun). Progress!
In all seriousness - I think because the club is taking more interest this season (with live streams and the advent of B&W TV) I have seen an (albeit sporadic) improvement in interview quality. Long may it continue to improve.

That’s a fair call.
can we all chip in and buy them a decent mic for the interviews? One that doesn’t pick up as much background noise.
Im not a fan of Calum’s style or his voice in general but it sounds a hundred times worse with the poor audio quality.
They have decent enough equipment. What is infuriating is that it can look/sound OK one week and then terrible the next. This has gone on for literally years. It's a lack of attention to detail and has never changed.
(p.s. I'm happy making this criticism in public because I have repeatedly made the exact same point to those involved and offered to help. Not interested.)

Their YouTube channel has loads of content, embarrassing actually that we feel the need to put similar stuff behind a paywall on a platform that doesn’t work particularly well.
7 minutes ago, rb123! said:We're obviously trying to act like a big time team now lol, but yes i agree is a bit shit, highlights and post match interviews should be free IMO but extended highlights and midweek detailed manager interview on paywall? Could also do like a Monday analysis show looking over the game from Saturday, same with a preview show on the Friday or something talking about the opposition on Saturday and how we might set up and the danger players in the opposition etc? I know it's a bit Match of the Day sounding lol but just making it worthwhile to subscribe to, because IMHO what they're offering atm isn't worth enough to pay for.
All fair points. I'm sure the club will review the whole thing at the end of this season. I know a lot fewer people watch the highlights on B&W TV than on the old Youtube channel, for example. It's a difficult one, Ayr's first video paywall (Ayr World c.2009-12) was successful on its own terms (it paid for itself and for equipment that is used to this day). It did not contribute anything financially to the club though. So much has changed in the last decade and there is a much higher expectation from fans for content (free and otherwise). It will be a difficult circle to square for the club to keep fans happy while making Black & White TV a revenue generator. Interesting times...

Are there any highlights of this one yet?
Highlights will be up on Black & White TV in an hour or so. Thanks to Morton TV for the match footage.

I would give the job to the rainbow llama ahead of Levein. FWIW I would give Kerr to the start of April to see an improvement. Happy for him to be manager next season if survival is achieved.

On the flip side you can say there's been an inordinate amount of everything is fine, which considering our league position and performance level, over the whole season, is a little odd. Really don't know where that confidence is coming from or what's it's based on.
Fair enough. I haven't seen or peddled much "it's all fine, nothing to see here" stuff but it could be out there. The confidence just comes from the league table and where I think Ayr will finish.

Easy solution, don't read it.
Your posts are starting to get a bit hysterical. You're about an inch away from saying 9th ain't all that bad.
Hmm. Not sure if serious? (despite emoji) There has certainly been an inordinate amount of knicker-wetting on here the last few days, even from posters I considered level headed.

Well done on completely missing the point.
Not really missing the point though is it? Hughes was open (on Sportsound ages ago) about how he did not apply but had an agent ask if Ayr were going to give him the job. When that generous offer was declined/unanswered he chose not to pursue it.

Nice to see a few old names joining the discussion. Do some people have an alert for Ayr being in or around League 1? It would absolutely have gone off yesterday. Call me a cockeyed optimist (or happy clapper or lickspittle) but I think we will stay up. Please bookmark.

I wouldn't say I was confident about tomorrow, I just don't have that usual feeling of impending doom. It'll be this then:

No kidding. It seems like a really stop/start season but probably has been no worse than others. I'm even contemplating watching the Doonhammers on the TV tonight.

The quality in this league is absolutely rank rotten
That statement (or similar) has been parroted by fans of most Championship clubs for the last few seasons. I don't agree. If the "quality" (definition please) is so bad it should be easy to win the league/make playoffs. Also quality <> enjoyment. My enjoyment of Scottish football has stayed about the same (moderate to moderately-high) for years.

How come the highlights package coverage is 10x better quality than the livestream picture?
Highlights are done from the camera’s internal recording. The bitrate is 35 Mbps. The stream bitrate is probably about 4 Mbps (I’m not involved with that).1 -
Elgin City v Ayr
in Domestic Cup Football
Posted
I've been trying to find footage from the 2010 Scottish Cup game on some old hard drives with no success. I was there (and still have a Final Cut Pro project file!) but no DVD image or any other video. It was recorded to tape but I only have my old tapes from Feb 2011 - all the earlier ones were kept at the club. Alas, it may be lost to the ages.
Here's hoping Elgin City do not continue their 100% win rate over Ayr this evening.
