  1. I've been trying to find footage from the 2010 Scottish Cup game on some old hard drives with no success. I was there (and still have a Final Cut Pro project file!) but no DVD image or any other video. It was recorded to tape but I only have my old tapes from Feb 2011 - all the earlier ones were kept at the club. Alas, it may be lost to the ages.

Here's hoping Elgin City do not continue their 100% win rate over Ayr this evening.

. "New daddy who will ultimately disappoint you" is very distasteful and negative about a manger who has already made a postive impact on the squad.

It was meant to be distasteful. There was no comment on Hopkin there, I hope he does well.

There seems to be a case of some people letting their relationship with Kerr or personal feelings of Kerr as a person affect their judgement of him as a football manager.

The funny thing is I have had the exact same relationship with every manager at Ayr (starting with the 2 Rabs), not much chit chat just civility i.e what you would hope for in a profesional setup.

  3. And you're one of the more positive people on here...

I’m not sure about that but thank you. I didn’t like when the owner said that staying up was the goal. Why sack Kerr then? And replace him with Hopkin? I get that Smith didn’t fancy Kerr (not his pick) but you then can’t say you will support your manager when you’ve just thrown one under the bus.

At least they eventually seem to have got past the manager interviews only having sound in one ear if using earphones, that was the big killer for me for a while.

Good to hear (pardon the pun). Progress!

In all seriousness - I think because the club is taking more interest this season (with live streams and the advent of B&W TV) I have seen an (albeit sporadic) improvement in interview quality. Long may it continue to improve.

    That’s a fair call.

can we all chip in and buy them a decent mic for the interviews? One that doesn’t pick up as much background noise.

Im not a fan of Calum’s style or his voice in general but it sounds a hundred times worse with the poor audio quality.

They have decent enough equipment. What is infuriating is that it can look/sound OK one week and then terrible the next. This has gone on for literally years. It's a lack of attention to detail and has never changed.

(p.s. I'm happy making this criticism in public because I have repeatedly made the exact same point to those involved and offered to help. Not interested.)

Their YouTube channel has loads of content, embarrassing actually that we feel the need to put similar stuff behind a paywall on a platform that doesn’t work particularly well.

We're obviously trying to act like a big time team now lol, but yes i agree is a bit shit, highlights and post match interviews should be free IMO but extended highlights and midweek detailed manager interview on paywall? Could also do like a Monday analysis show looking over the game from Saturday, same with a preview show on the Friday or something talking about the opposition on Saturday and how we might set up and the danger players in the opposition etc? I know it's a bit Match of the Day sounding lol but just making it worthwhile to subscribe to, because IMHO what they're offering atm isn't worth enough to pay for.

All fair points. I'm sure the club will review the whole thing at the end of this season. I know a lot fewer people watch the highlights on B&W TV than on the old Youtube channel, for example. It's a difficult one, Ayr's first video paywall (Ayr World c.2009-12) was successful on its own terms (it paid for itself and for equipment that is used to this day). It did not contribute anything financially to the club though. So much has changed in the last decade and there is a much higher expectation from fans for content (free and otherwise). It will be a difficult circle to square for the club to keep fans happy while making Black & White TV a revenue generator. Interesting times...

On the flip side you can say there's been an inordinate amount of everything is fine, which considering our league position and performance level, over the whole season, is a little odd. Really don't know where that confidence is coming from or what's it's based on.

Fair enough. I haven't seen or peddled much "it's all fine, nothing to see here" stuff but it could be out there. The confidence just comes from the league table and where I think Ayr will finish.

The quality in this league is absolutely rank rotten

That statement (or similar) has been parroted by fans of most Championship clubs for the last few seasons. I don't agree. If the "quality" (definition please) is so bad it should be easy to win the league/make playoffs. Also quality <> enjoyment. My enjoyment of Scottish football has stayed about the same (moderate to moderately-high) for years.
