I think I’d said before, but a higher position in the stand might help with the view of the pitch, but I understand the support beams might be an issue

Beams but more importantly roof (? from memory you can barely see the far touchline from a camera at the back of the main stand) plus having to give up seats. The pixellot camera is close to the best view of Somerset and it/similar will no doubt supplant a manned central camera.

I assume the set up and some sort of rules would prevent using the gantry that the bbc use next to the hospitality suite?

    Yes.

I didn’t get motion sickness every time there was an exchange of possession the midfield

Sadly, being so low and close to to the pitch means some of this is inevitable - you need to pan quickly. At e.g. Easter Road or Firhill it is much easier to do the slow-moving/wide-view thing people expect when watching football.

Has there been an upgrade for the streaming? Camera work and picture quality look much better today.

I thought it looked better when I was testing it as well., Nobody said anything about new cameras or anything like that though.  Might just simply be less people on.

Frame rate was smooth and stable, and the camera work was steady and less jittery.Really enjoyed the coverage today.

That is all good to hear but is, frankly, baffling! No new cameras, no changes to the streaming setup (as far as I know - and there are definite improvements to be made there). Bit in bold shouldn't matter but does seem to... The light was a real pain in the first half and then a real pleasure when the floodlights came on in the secondhalf, literally the Golden Hour for filming. Camerawork was the usual ham-fisted fumblings.

Were you not having a real go at people for suggesting his jacket was on a shoogly peg just a couple of weeks ago?

There have been quite a few "hot takes" flying about on here recently and I agree that was a wild one. Here's mine: is it too much to ask for an interview on black & white tv to be in focus/ have listenable sound?! Performances have been staid. We all know how frustrating Moffat is, I'm content if we are in the Chapioship next season.

Nah that’s not true. He was asked if he applied and he advised he had enquired about the job and was told by someone at the club that they already had someone lined up.

Fair enough, happy to be corrected.

Ross County have a decent squad, I think its more likely he'll keep them up than not. In that scenario I wonder if he'll get any credit or it'll have been in spite of him?

Yep, that was a cheap shot by me. I just don't fancy him as a manager at all.

In principle, I think any content that was free before should really stay free in some form

I watch all the highlights and interviews usually. I already subscribe to the lottery and buy merchandise so it’s a bit annoying to have to pay for the highlights going forward.

Certainly is sh*te that the club will soon be charging to watch the highlights and post match interviews.

I am hopeful that highlights (in some form) will be freely available. My understanding is there will be improvements to the video player on the site as well. Apart from that, I know as much as anyone else at the moment!

I'm not entirely sure if the in was meant to be an, if so yes I would.  It's all just a bit roaster reaction, I'd have more respect for it if I believed folk genuinely believed it rather than throw a tantrum after Morton, get over it, throw a tantrum after Livingston and get over it, we now have it after Arbroath, results following will determine whether folk get over it but I'd wager we will be back here on boxing Day and hear f**k all else for a few weeks afterwards.

Thank you for putting it better than I can muster this evening. Usual suspects bringing up the "laptop", Mark Roberts and Sandy Stewart! Then expecting to be taken seriously.

    That's the Pixellot I think.

How can we access that? It seemed so much better.

My understanding is that there would be a cost to the club for using that camera. I agree it is a much better vantage point. Hopefully the main camera will be in the stand (front of the directors' box perhaps?) for the next streamed game (29th Dec).

Was it just me that thought we got pretty lucky today? ...
But from the point we went 2 up we were really under pressure...
A great 3 points, but I'm not entirely convinced.

I think that's a glass half-empty take. We scored with our first two chances. Dundee had a couple of great chances (saved) and we had a close thing disallowed. It was nerve-wracking at times but I never had the fear of impending disaster. It's encouraging to be able to make a few changes to the team and look no worse for it.

Aye he was, that's what caused all the arguing.

I didn't see much wrong with McGowan there. He did swing a leg but it wasn't much at all (didn't make the highlights!).

1080p at 60fps requires bandwidth of approximately 11Mb.

Morton got a lot of things right last week in terms of the coverage but I don't think their frame rate was great. At the time I thought it was not great, and the highlights were only 25fps. For live sports, the key thing is getting a good frame rate.

By all accounts the stream was poor - I didn't see the stream but I have seen the raw footage from the "main" camera (on the gantry). The footage was very poor even for that less-than perfect viewpoint. That's on AUmedia, simply not good enough to sell. Watch the manager's interview on Youtube - another shocking picture.

I wouldn't get too hung up on resolution or frame rate (720p50 would be ideal imo). I believe they are streaming over a fibre connection but 11 Mbps seems excessive, 4-6 Mbps should suffice. I really enjoyed watching the Morton game last week and thought the pictures (2 cams, replays) were to a standard I was happy to pay for.

Caveat for all of the above: I am not watching the games on a spangly 4K TV, but my 4.5" has a built-in Teasmaid.

  10. I thought that was as solid a Dunfermline side as I've seen in a while. Could have snatched it at the end with a couple of late half-chances. Let us off the hook with some pretty poor free kicks as well. I don't think Ayr were terrible though and Moffat probably had the best chance in the game. Both sides seemed to lack a cutting edge up front today.

I hope Stranraer don't knock us out the League Cup (again)!
