  1. All leagues are private members clubs. And their duty is to protect their members.
  2. Doesn't the necessity for SFA membership mean a floodlight requirement, though?
  3. English League 1 and League 2 team supporters are just as opposed to Colt teams in the EFL as fans of lower league SPFL sides (and others) are up here..
  4. Whatever happens in England there's no mechanism for this in Scotland. Consider what is the southernmost team in the HL at the moment and the northernmost in the LL and how far apart they are. Plus there's a boundary at the line of the middle of the Tay Bridge determining which of those two leagues a demoted team has to go into. As that regulation stands an LL team can't be shovellled north nor an HL team south. Both leagues have to suck it up if a team is relegated into them and adjust the number promoted into them that season if it's the LL. (Not so for the HL which is not at capacity and doesn't accept promotions anyway just now.)
  5. I was born and brought up in Dumbarton but live in Fife so don't get to many home games. This arrangement would lead to me seeing Sons at only three away grounds due to the travelling involved, rather than six in the other group.
  6. A bangwagon? Sounds like something Gary Glitter would have had.
  7. Or perhaps know more about both than you do.
  8. Yes, but it was the Tories/coalition who made sure those not responsible were the ones who paid for it.
  9. That would be post 2010 austerity. By the time of that year's General Election the economy was in recovery. It was George Osborne's first budget that killed that recovery stone dead and entrenched austerity for a decade.
  10. Not necessarily. It can be hyphenated as 'no-one'. However, in a sentence like, "No one person has a monopoly on wisdom," it definitely has to be two words.
  11. They've been waiting for an excuse for that ever since the leagues recombined. Probably waiting till Dundee Utd and Dundee were both back in the top flight with both Edinburgh teams there as well, with the likes of Hamilton, Livingston and Ross County having been relegated.
  12. There are loads of rules that are different between England and Scotland - and always have been.
  13. It was the change strip, for a few seasons I think. In those days in Scotland it was the home side that changed if there was a colour clash.
  14. No they weren't. ICT were Inverness Caledonian and Inverness Thistle, Ross County were .... Ross County; and Livingston were Meadowbank Thistle (and before that Ferranti Thistle.) They didn't just come out of nowhere. Just noticed you may have meant new to the top four leagues. Apologies.
  15. 1) All but Ross County, Elgin and Cove. Edit: forgot New St Mirren Park. (Only Scottish ground I've been to and not seen Sons play at is Grant Street Park, Inverness.) I've also seen Sons at Old Bayview, Annfield, Firs Park, Shielfield, New Kilbowie, Broomfield, Shawfield, Old Douglas Park. Edited to add : forgot Brockville. (Sadly I missed Cathkin - and Raydale.) And outwith Scotland, Park Hall Stadium, Oswestry. 2) All but Ross County, Elgin and Cove. 3) Boghead, first away was Hampden to see Queen's play the Sons in the 1960s. 4) Balmoor - this season. 5) After Boghead (natch,) Firs Park, followed by Glebe Park, then Cliftonhill - all nostalgia fests, football as it was and as it should be. 6) I don't have a least favourite.
  16. To be fair, that's the best version of Geordie Munro I've heard.
  17. At this rate Fort might even catch Turriff or Clach...
  18. The English Football League only relegates two from a bottom division of 24 clubs. That's 8% of its clubs, about 3% of the whole league. And you expect a division of ten to lose two teams (20% of its clubs) at its bottom end every season? That's nearly 5% of the SPFL's total clubs. Is there any league in the world where that happens? (3 from 16 in the LL would be nigh on 19%.)
  19. That could be a season too far for Forbes... But at least we've got one body for next season signed up.
  20. Well, it's a body. But one thing we weren't lacking was midfielders.
