  1. A transfer fee and freeing up wages would be good, just not sure who we could get at this stage. Maybe someone from the southern hemisphere but its more a short term fix.
  2. we've actually got one of the biggest squads in europe (according to squad lists on wiki), as we have so many internationals. We do seem to have a lot of players that are permacrocked / made of glass or just up to it.
  3. Just to add to the comments on Australia, the Pacific league is getting closer to a reality, looking at an 8 team league, with the Force, Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japanese teams and potentialy some of the Pacific Islands, with Forest pciking up the costs for 16 players per team and the clubs themselves the remainder. ARU given them the backing as long as they dont overlap into the area's with Shute Shield teams https://www.smh.com.au/sport/rugby-union/castle-gives-go-ahead-for-world-series-to-become-a-western-force-in-sydney-20180913-p503md.html
  4. To me it looks like nothing has been learnt from last season, and this year is going to be exactly the same, blowing away most teams, but losing out to the big guns when it really matters. Having Sarries up first in Europe sets the tone, as we have a good chance of beating them and Cardiff away, before Lyon away. Its a pit Lyon are at home to Cardiff in the first game, as if they had been away and lost, then lost to Sarries they would have probably thrown in the towel in Europe to focus on staying in the top 14. However if they are still in with a shout they will be targeting the first game vs Glasgow at home to stay in with a shout. Im also slightly concerned about how small our available squad seems to be, in terms of players we have one of the biggest squads , however we've hardly made any changes to the squad over the last 3 games so Im assuming thats all we've got available which is worrying
  5. Its on freesports if you have virgin (and probably Sky) for free I beleive
  6. They've started a new league including a team in Fiji but only play 7 or 8 games. The western forces owner is also trying to set up his own league which will be eastern asian
  7. Where's frisby coming on then, as the other Horne is also on the bench?
  8. So looks like Frisby is our replacement 10 then! Also I dont like the move of taking off a 2nd row, bring on a back row and pushing Harley into the 2nd 60 minutes into a game, as if Harley gets injured were struggling for anyone else to play 2nd row! Surely we have someone knocking about that can play 2nd row, or start Fagerson and have Harley on the bench
  9. Do Ireland / Wales and ourselves not have limits on the amount of games players can play? The Irish teams especially will have completely different teams in Europe compared to the early league games. You tend to fine anyone that is a first choice at international level will play a couple of early league games to get match fit, European games (if Champions cup), Autumn internationals and 6 Nations and summer tours takes you to 19 games. There are another 19 league games, plus any play offs for the league and european knock outs that they could potentially be involved in so picking and choosing who plays in what games is not unusual.
  10. Cheetahs are always going to struggle at the start of every season as they are playing Currie Cup games at the same time as Pro14 so their squad is stretched to thinly. they should pick up once the Currie Cup and Rugby Championship is finished
  11. Although Glasgow's first choice of Dunbar and Jones are preferably to Scott and Bennett. Also disappointing that Taylor is out injured again, he's had no luck at all
  12. Edinburgh team vs Ulster Edinburgh: Kinghorn; Fife, Bennett, Scott, Brown; Hickey, Pyrgos; Schoeman, McInally, Nel, Toolis, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Ritchie, Mata. Replacements: Ford, Dell, McCallum, McKenzie, Crosbie, Kennedy, van der Walt, Johnstone. Good to see Nel starting - hoping he gets a decent run of games under his belt
  13. Are hte only changes from last week Cummings out, Harley moving into the 2nd row and Ashe coming into back row, and Brown starting in place of Turner? Had expected a few more changes
  14. For some reason (not that I am complaining) my TIVO recorded all 3 games last night and I haven't paid for Premier Sports - was it some sort of 1st week freebie? Edinburgh looked rusty, only plus point was Shoeman looked very good. Ospreys defensive line looked offside all game, and Edinburgh didn't look like they had a plan b to deal with it, until they started to pick and drive in the 2nd half.
  15. Looking at the fixture s hopefully we are still undefeated** going i to the newco game ** Penalties aside
  16. That looks like really good Edinburgh side now, no noticeable weak spots
  17. Has anyone else watched the Northampton game (full game on Warriors TV channel on youtube)? Only watched the first hour, and only had it on in the background while doing something else, but the defence from first phase ball off the scrum is dreadful. it looked like 3 or 4 times Northampton just ran at the 10 channel and no one bothered tackling. The more I see the more i think that Hastings has a lot of work to do on his game, and also Gibbens pays no attention defensively at scrums. I remember last year a scrum half picked up and scored and gibbens didn't move off hte back. Ive got the fear already for this season, and its not started yet
  18. It depends what you after I suppose, my Sims £7 a month for 6gb data and more than enough text & call time. I usually pay about £100 to £150 for a phone as you can get one with a decent camera and I usually look for best battery life. If you want to pay 3x as much for a phone that is slightly better then crack on.
  19. The wife has an oukitel and it does get hot and screen goes funny after a bit of use. I've got a redmi note 4 and daughter note 5 and both are excellent
  20. I would assume there will be a new one for the world cup, they usually dont allow sponsors logo's on the world cup kits
  21. I would have preferred the tartan we had on the old home kit to the purple, its ok but nothing special On who we should be pumping (insert kenneth williams gif), in the last few seasons we have beaten everyone bar the All Blacks, who we ran close, at Murrayfield, but our away form hasn't been great. We shouldnt be fearing anyone coming to Murrayfield now, and think we should be winning all 3 this November. We do need to work on our away form though if we are looking at winning the 6N at some point.
  22. We need to be looking at about 5 points per year if we want to be reaching 17th place an upwards and later entry / increased places. Hopefully both Rangers and Celtic make the groups stages and pick up a few wins. I think 21st should be an achievable target for this season
  23. Updated for 20/21 league, league cup (to 2nd round) opposition
  24. I for one am gutted that we are missing out on playing the New Saints, as its the least travelling I could do for a game - completely inconsiderate of McCall not to put the best team out vs QP, and Doohan should be dropped for not saving at least 3 penalties. *I do completely understand that this cup is a completly diddy affair and couldn't care less about winning it ** And that the draw would have been different if Ayr had been in it rather than QP
  25. Or they did not ask us to join They probably didn't ask us to be fair, but would have been ideal for our new semi pro teams Edit - Although wonder if this free's up the Irish teams spaces in the B&I cup to allow us to take part in that again?
