  1. He came off injured in one of the Edinburgh games, but dont think I ever saw anything to say what he had done
  2. thats that then Good try by Horne
  3. Good try, even Warbutton has said how bad Lacey's decisions are
  4. about time, been really scrappy so far, need to get a decent score by half time given the wind
  5. What's with all the Glasgow players having the same hair? I think its Rob Harley's hair (it doesn't look out of place on him anyway), its his 200th game for Glasgow
  6. Wasn't convinced to start with that they could continue without Ragnar, but this 2nd half of the season has been pretty good so far. Bjorn's mannerism's are now more and more morphing into Ragnar's (maybe as a consequence of Rollo's news) and Ivar is still a brilliant character, but its a bit disjointed as a dont see where Flokkie in Iceland fits in with everyone else
  7. I can see both sides, on the one hand I would assume the majority of fans would have bit your hand off over the summer if you had offered them 2nd place in the league in the first week of Jan, 3 points back on first with a game in had. In fact I would bet a lot of Ayr fans would have settled for finishing 8th come May at the start of the season so where we are now is way above expectations. There will be many fans who have never see an Ayr team challenge at the top of the Championship, the same as there are a number who were bought up with us playing in the top flight, so you can understand a number of fans thinking that now is not really the time to criticise. However the last few weeks the performances have dropped, be it fatigue, other teams have sat back and defended, where we play better as a counter attacking team or maybe just being full time they have had a chance to study how we play and plan to counter it - also with a small squad we dont really have options to do anything different to suprise teams. For me what has been missing the last few weeks (since Dundee Utd) is the pace of the game. To be fair its much easier to pay a fast paced game when the game is open rather than when you are faced with a full team behind the ball it can grind to halt at times. But we are not seeing enough of the little flicks, the quick 1,2's etc that can open teams up, maybe we are missing Forrest more than anyone else. Im sure McCall as much as anyone will know the problems and hopefully will be looking to rectify them. I think everyone will have been dissapointed with the last few weeks given how the season had gone so far, but to be fair this has been one of the better ones in my lifetime, and probably the best team since the Hurst, Teale, Walker etc one - if you haven't enjoyed it bar the odd blip then I dont know what you would enjoy!
  8. We must be due a new 2nd row as we let big Brian go as well with only the young lad from Newcastle in on loan
  9. For me the 2 sides are fairly even, obviously Glasgow stronger in the backs with Edinburgh having the better forwards. For me though the Glasgow bench is much stronger than Edinburgh's which may be the difference. If Glasgow are in contention early 2nd half, bring on the likes of Jones and Matawalu will swing the game
  10. Fantastic song, but dont think they ever released anything else - anyone know anything about them?
  11. Im sure Rennie said in an interview a few weeks back that he was looking at Fagerson, Horne and Hastings as his 8 / 9 /10 combination and although good now are only going to get better and will be the spine of the team for seasons to come. Apart from Seymour (who is hardly old) the majority of players resigning are all what you could class as youngsters and a few more season playing together will be a boost for the squad. We dont have the money to compete with England or France, so we need to focus on bringing youngsters through, keeping them until mid 20's then letting them make there money with big moves and hoping we get them back for a few years at the end of their careers.
  12. Have they moved the African cup from being in Jan / Feb then?
  13. I'd (quite happily) forgotten he even existed
  14. Haven't had a chance to properly look at the Lyon team for tomorrow, have they chucked it yet to concentrate on the league, or is it a full strength team from them?
  15. Its something like £3m a year less as well
  16. Just heard I've got a ticket for Scotland Wales at Murrayfield in the 6N's. Really looking forward to it as been an age since i've been to Murrayfield
  17. So basically the champions on the smaller countries (11th down) and the 2nd & 3rd teams from 5th down to 15th enter the Champions league qualifiers, if they get knocked out of that, they go into the Europa League either group stage or qualifiers depending on the round they are knocked out, or if its first round they go into the Europa Vase thing. And some of the teams could lose again in Europa laegue and end up in the group stage of the Vase!
  18. I wasn't sure if he finished the Currie cup season first, or came over after super rugby finished
  19. AI's of 2020 he should be eligible
  20. Pretty sure I read that Disney have got the rights to all the Marvel content which is why they are being pulled from Netflix once they have been aired. Once the new chanel is up and running should expect to see the shows re-appear there, or new ones to start. Wonder what will happen to the likes of Gifted, Runaways and Cloak and Dagger which were not on Netflix and more stand alone
  21. Im sure it was actually in Daredevil where he said his family were killed during a picnic
  22. I had completely forgotten about Marfo, that must be about a year he's been out for. He looked a great find in the AI's last year as well.
  23. On Skinner, I think he is better than either Gilchrist or Toolis, not by much, but is a better option. Barclay may have been out for 6 months, but his experience at the breakdown is invaluable, and I would have him straight back in unless he is completely off the pace on his return. Given Watson, Barclay and Wilson were the backrow pretty much all the last 6 nations where we did pretty well I would be happy to stick with that. Thompson may add something to the mix, Bradbury, Hardie, Denton, Ashe, Fagerson, Strauss, Graham and Ritchie will all be in their leading up to the world cup and all add something different. As you point out the ruck was really poor, and Laidlaw doesn't help as he takes an age to get the ball out. Both Price and Horne are quicker players which would help out, but Laidlaw is better at managing games. Price lost his way abit last year, and I think Horne is the better player between those 2. I will come down to how we want to play, and do we have enough other leaders on the pitch on who starts. I would start Horne v Italy as we could really blow them away and lay down a marker for hte 6 nations. Dunbar has missed a lot of rugby the last year, (the whole of the 6 nations last year), but i still think he is first choice at 12 over Horne, as he is solid defensively, and can punch holes, which is something we lack given the forwards we have. Horne is ideal for the bench as he can cover 10, 12 & 13, and if you also have Kinghorn who can cover wing and full back. Having Taylor, Bennett and Scott back fit will give a bit of a headache going forward, with Grigg and Johnson looking to get in the squad also. For me we probably didn't make the most of the AI's, but we are still looking at the best squad we have ever had. Im more used to asking why is someone in the squad, now you are wondering why players are missing out. Come the WC you will be able to put together a team of players who miss out on going to Japan, that would have hammered the best team we could muster in previous years which is a testament to how far we have come in the last 5 years.
  24. I dont think we are that unsettled, I think a first 15 picks itself, and everyone knows how we want to play. What Toonie has been doing during the autumn internationals is giving the back ups plenty of game time and trying new formations. Ritchie, Skinner and Hastings have come in a cemented a place in the squad, Strauss is back in the fold. I thought Alex Allan put in a decent shift when called on up front, after some good performances for Glasgow. I would say know our best team is Dell Brown / McInally Nell Gray Skinner Watson Barclay Strauss / Wilson Laidlaw / Horne Russell Seymour Dunbar Jones Maitland Hogg Toss up at hooker, scrum half depends on opposition and no. 8 I still dont think is nailed down, plus we have plenty on the bench.
