  1. Was thinking about signing up for the network but had a couple of questions,

if you sign up now do you still get the first month free?

does it include the old USWA and WCCW? (i had an old USWA Video that had early Austin matches in and wanted to see if they had any more)

  2. another move to keep sponsers etc happy, previously it was top seed picked the venue for final which meant you had to wait until after the semi's before you knoew where it was, but was in place so the team finishing first got home advantage.

I dont mind if it rotates as long as its a set Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy etc but it needs to be a minimum 30k stadium, 18k at Ravenhill isn't big enough for a final

  3. He will be missed although we have decent back up on the wing in DTH, Seymour and Lamont.

I think we are going to have to get used to losing big name players every year as firstly, most of the other countries have more money to spend due to higher attendances, sponshirsip etc but also with only 2 scottish pro teams we have to move players on if we want youngsters to come through. In the last few years Richie Grey moves on and his brother gets more game time, this year Jackson moved so Russell and Weir get game time.

Its always going to be the way until we can either set up another Pro team or can set up a proper semi pro / full time pro top division in Scotland

  4. would have liked a warm up game vs someone like tonga or fiji with the Samoa game being the must win game, but its all who would be available in august to play.

I am assuming the SH teams will be busy with the 4 Nations / Pacific cup etc so wont need warm up games themselves

  5. To be fair there were Cat C & D at 50 & 75 but have sold out.

I got tickets to Argentina vs Namibia at £35 as that was the cheapest left on Monday & Tuesday, I think all the tickets will be sold out for every game soon, even at the stupid prices off some of them, but if they sell fair play.

  6. Bit dissapionted that what is hopefully our first choice centre pairing for years to come in Scott and Bennett are hardly going to get any game time together before the word cup now Bennett is out for 12 weeks, just when Scott is coming back in time for the 6N's.

Will be a big test against Tonga but if the defence is on a par with the last 2 games (well first hour agaisnt Argentina anyway) we should be ok.

  7. I was seething at the Harley yellow, you could tell when barnes gave the penatly to begin with he was going to send someone to the bin. He then watches the replay where there is no contact from any Scotland player, never mind Harley. Everyone is expecting him to reverse the decision but instead completly ignores the TV pictures and bins Harley anyway.

The number of things he has got wrong over the years is incredible, a lot of the SH countries hate him, but i'd never really notice until Saturday how bad he really is.

  8. I think the Argies are rightly favourites seeing as they played well in the Championship and beat the ozzies in their last match.

I don't think Visser is playing badly, just Maitland and Seymor are playing better. He will get a start, probably at Rugby ark as has already been said.

  9. He's in the squad, just not picked for this one. If he's not picked to start he's not likely to get on the bench as only plays wing, whereas Lamont can fill in anywhere from 12-15. At present I would say Seymour and Maitland are just ahead of him at present, although it makes a change having an option like him to come in.

  10. After injuring his knee ligaments and being released by Clermont I thought he was never going to make it, gladly though I think I will be proved wrong. Having watched the majority of the Glasgow games this year he has been outstanding, and tore apart a Bath backline that is supposed to be the best in England with 4 of them in the Eng squad to face the all blacks

  11. Couple of suprises in the Team vs Argentina, although I guess Cotter will be giving a load of players a run over the 3 games and I would expect 30 plus will get game time, if not starts

Harley, Cowan and Ashe as the back row is a bit of a shocker, full team,

Scotland : Stuart Hogg (Glasgow Warriors), Sean Maitland (Glasgow Warriors), Mark Bennett (Glasgow Warriors), Alex Dunbar (Glasgow Warriors), Tommy Seymour (Glasgow Warriors), Finn Russell (Glasgow Warriors), Greig Laidlaw CAPTAIN (Gloucester), Alasdair Dickinson (Edinburgh Rugby), Ross Ford (Edinburgh Rugby), Euan Murray (Glasgow Warriors), Richie Gray (Castres), Jonny Gray (Glasgow Warriors), Rob Harley (Glasgow Warriors), Blair Cowan (London Irish), Adam Ashe (Glasgow Warriors),

Replacements : Scott Lawson (Gloucester), Gordon Reid (Glasgow Warriors), Geoff Cross (London Irish), Tim Swinson (Glasgow Warriors), Alasdair Strokosch (Perpignan), Henry Pyrgos (Glasgow Warriors), Duncan Weir (Glasgow Warriors), Sean Lamont (Glasgow Warriors),

  12. I used to quite like the old survivor series PPV's when it was all 4 or 5 man elimination tag matches as it was something a bit different, plus you got to see some people up against each other that you wouldn't normally.

You can also set up some new feuds between people if they are on opposite teams, rather than ruin other matches at PPV's

  13. Ireland are re-starting their 7's team this year, but are starting at the bottom in European tournaments with the goal of getting back into the World Series.

Scotstoun was always too small a venue to hold it compared to the rest of the series, and I dont think we had an alternative 20-25k stadium to use and Murrayfield / Hampden / Ibrox would all look half empty if they took it their.

I think the 7's team needs a clear out and should be used for development of players only. There are guys in the team that have been in it for years and done nothing who should be removed, and fill the team with guys from the Academy / fringe Glasgow / Edinburgh players to save money, but I wouldn't lose it completely

  14. Good win for Glasgow, and bodes well for Scotland as they started with 14 scots, (Nakarawa they only non scot).

Saw some of the 1st half of Sale Munster and Cuisiter look good, he would just shade it over Pyrgos for me, with Laidlaw 3rd choice at the moment.

Weir should be at 10, although if Finn Russell had been back from injury sooner and had more game time it would have been close with not much to choose between the 2.

Saw Barclay in the Toulon game and he seem to be playing well also. Its going to be interesting seeing who gets the nods for the November tests.

Just out of interest, how far away is Straus from being eligible to play? Is this his 2nd or 3rd season with Glasgow?

  15. Heard for every game all the CAT D are over allocated and gone to a ballot and for a lot of the games the CAT A, B & C as well

Im in for the Scotland South Africa and Scotland USA, hoping I get some

  16. I would say the last few season you would expect glasgow to be a play off contender come the end of the season, but when the celtic league was set up, up to say 4 years ago, the expectations were that glasgow and edinburgh would be mid table, probably being proped up by the italians and Connaught, as most likely during that period everyone else would expect the big 3 Irish and the 4 Welsh sides to finish above the 2 Scottish sides.

It does make a change though with Glasgow who you would expect to beat or run close anyone in the league, i just hope they can bring that form to Europe this year as the have been dismay every season. Like last year, cant remember the last time they lost to Cardiff in the league, yet come the European games and they lost twice

  17. I think Edinburgh have suffered with injuries (I think Scott and Denton are out at the moment and visser is just back), but on the whole its not good enough.

Although 3 or 4 years ago the best you would hope from the 2 scottish teams would be mid table, so it is maybe more that Glasgow are punching way above expectations rather than Edinburgh doing badly. Although saying that Glasgow seem to be picking up all the good young Scottish talent coming through (Finn Russell, Adam Ashe etc) whereas Im not excited by a single young player at Edinburgh. Whether thats better coaching at youth levels I dont know, but there have been a few occasions lately where Edinburgh have released players (Allan this summer a good exaple) and Glasgow have signed them and they've looked good.

I think another point is that success breeds success. As Glasgow have done well, they have had more TV exposure (used to be 50/50 on games on Alba, now it seems exclusively Glasgow, unless they are away somewhere they cant get the filmed), the crowds have increased, so they have more to invest in better players.
