The Wire: The Musical

I've been to Germany for games three times this season and every time I've stayed in Dusseldorf. There are so many teams nearby (Fortuna Dusseldorf, Koln, Gladbach, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Schalke, Bochum etc) and you should be able to get tickets for any of them. Even if it's a 2nd Division game, the atmosphere in the standing section will be great whoever you go and see. Dusseldorf is a fantastic city too and the Altstadt is a great place for a night out (Bolker Strasse/Kurze Strasse). Most trips I've done (3 or 4 nights) are under £130 for flights and hotel from Edinburgh to Weeze. Berlin's a great city too - so much to see and do and it's a brilliant place for a night out.

Every St. Mirren fan I know is absolutely seething with rage at the idea of Rangers getting punished. I nearly cooked Billy - my flute-playing, red crab pet when I heard the news.

Did you enjoy it today? I thought both games were good but both Belgian players were a class above. Still, Evans was unlucky not to win the third set against a guy 285 places (I think) better off than him.

He was telling me his mum told him to research pasta she had watched an episode with a round on it. Thinking researching pasta would've been a bit daft, he decided not to - which led him to forget the name for "penne" during that round and having to go with "lasagne" instead... If anyone is interested in going on it though, it sounds like a good laugh. There's regional auditions where they get you to play along with other potential couples (one of the guesses by one of the non-successful auditionees was 'Nightmare On Elm Street' for 'Jack Nicholson films') and you'll likely be on the show a few months later if accepted. Your travel and accomodation is paid for - Mark and Sam were in the same hotel as the other contestants for the night before the filming, but were moved to another hotel after winning (so he couldn't tell them the options for the final round I guess). Other 'Pointless' facts are that the interaction between the hosts and the contestants was kept to a minimum and Richard Osman is tall as f*ck but has a weird plastercine-looking face.

Mark. I think he's coming round to my flat to watch it as he thinks it'd be a bit weird to watch himself on tv on his own.

Just watched "Sugar" on iPlayer. A story about a young baseball pitcher from the Dominican Republic trying to cope with life in the Minor Leagues in the US. Absolutely loved it. As did my girlfriend who has no interest at all in baseball. 9/10 BBC iPlayer link
