  1. there isn't one word of truth in that headline but perception is always more important than reality

Froome's secrets revealed: Team Sky release astonishing data to prove British star works at the 'known human limit' in Tour de France glory bid... WITHOUT doping
  2. These are the points that confuse me - I could understand if he was an exceptional climber or an exceptional time trialist, but he seems to be formidable at both.

Again, I assume they're all competing off a level playing field (one way or another) so why is he still so much better?

Either way, at least he's attacking. Everyone moaned last year when Wiggins sat back and defended.

there is a suggestion that his blood disease helps him beat the passport.

  3. The original decision was "not out". For that to be overturned you need clear evidence that the original decision was wrong. Given that the original decision could well have been that the umpire on the field heard 2 noises, in the absence of the Hot Spot technology the original decision should have been upheld.

    England were dicked.

they had hotspot but only one angle.

i haven't seen it confirmed but what to do in the event of a source malfunctioning must be in the DRS agreement, the third umpire isn't making a judgement call in these situations he's simply going through a checklist.

  4. Unwritten and unpractised.

Certain instances they will be all fair play and handshakes. Other times they don't. Its quite like football that way.

when you have the england captain and coach barging into the india dressing room to demand the spirit of the game is upheld over the bell dismissal surely they set a high bar for themselves?

  5. Great stage yesterday. What were some people saying on here a couple of days ago about this being a borefest now?

    due to adverse weather conditions.

froome has had two bad days this entire year. one at T-A when it was bucketing down and sagan and nibali attacked while he was wobbling about and the other in the crosswinds yesterday.

  6. I know DRS is agreed before the game and it is a normally successful review system, similar to the one they have in tennis. However the onfield umpires decision is always final, if one piece of technology is faulty and it is inconclusive whether Trott got an inside edge then the onfield umpire gets the final say.

The third umpire is there to check every available resource, when one of them isnt available then he cant overturn the onfield umpire who for all he knows might have heard a nick.

as i understand it if one component is unavailable then it is discounted in the decision making process.

ie. the third umpire had to make his decision on the sources that were working. is that not the case?

  7. Hotspot was invented and is run by an Australian that works for Sky and Fox Australia. Not that I think this had anything to do with it not being recorded, I listened to an interview where he said that they were re-running the Root dismissal and it was human error that caused Trotts dismissal not to be recorded. If all the required technology is not available them the umpires decision should be final.

Broad although what he did wasnt exactly moral, was within his rights to stand, I think he should have walked though.

the DRS protocol is agreed in advance of the match. they go with what is available and in the trott decision they had a good ball, hitting the pads, hitting the stumps and nothing on one hotspot or snicko. the third umpire has no other choice but to give out, he is basically ticking boxes agreed by the two nations before the test match.

england greeting about DRS being applied to the letter after moaning so much about india not using it is rank hypocrisy. their attitude about broad not walking also stinks after invoking 'the spirit of the game' when the indians got bell out a couple of years ago.

  8. it's good to see the english showing themselves to be arseholes over this.

argar - it goes straight to the 3rd umpire, the evidence is inconclusive, got to be not out.

trott. australia go to DRS. the 3rd ump follows the process and all the available results point to out. he had no other choice.

broad - blatant cheating. giving yourself a healthy benefit of the doubt is one thing, what he did is completely dishonest.

the trott decision sums up why i'm against instant replay or any technology that involves broadcasting companies in football. the hotspot camera wasn't on at the required time because of a sky editorial decision. test cricket is obviously inconsequential but imagine a national broadcaster standing to make millions if their team makes it to the world cup controlling the technology in a play off game?

  9. & would you believe so did Tony Martin?

Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Pie & Bovril mobile app

tony martin is a much bigger man than any of the three of them and expended far less effort in the preceding stages.

  10. I was surprised by his weight loss from last year, it's noticeably visible on his upper arms - for someone who already has a well oiled and extremely efficient metabolism that is quite a change. I don't think this makes him a doper, that's not my point, maybe he is for all I know. Would there be a training plan that says lose weight, don't worry what you lose in power you gain more from pulling your lighter frame about? These guys ain't exactly got a lot of body fat to start with.

the theory is that they are using new drugs called aicar and gw1516 which allow users to shed weight whilst retaining power.

it is more than slightly suspicious that these new drugs have popped up just when froome becomes a bag of bones and utterly dominant.
